It has taken 8 or 9 years but we finally seem to have realised the art of grinding out a win. We have always struggled in games on small pitches as the amount of long balls, corners and throws into our box have never been dealt with. Our lads put their body’s on the line in an epic 85 minutes and although we had a few hairy moments at the end we got through for one of our most memorable wins. It was a very even game again at this premier league seems to get tighter all the time. We defended well early on, Mark in particular had his hands full it was probably the biggest physical test that he has had. Graham continued his good form well supported by Ryan on the left. Going forward Mike and Ben were showing enough to suggest we could get a goal. Ben was almost through but a last ditch tackle saved them. The goal we conceded was predictable. A high ball into our box lead to a scramble and a good volley into the net. We really raised it from here. Harvey started to dominate. Pete and Rob shot wide from distance. We felt we could win this and the 2nd half was a great watch. James and that back four were outstanding. Matty came into his own with last ditch tackles but everybody all over the pitch were growing in confidence. The equaliser was coming and our chance fell to the right player. A crisp shot from Mike got us level and it was game on. We continued to press, Harvey was again instrumental and powerful. A long throw was brilliantly flicked on by Graham and Stokesy was in the right place to nod us in front. It was backs to the wall now. Goal mouth scrambles, more saves from James. Matty flicked a shot onto the bar. Brett nearly killed the game off with a stunning shot from the angle that was well saved. The whistle seemed to take an age to come but eventually we held on for a great win. There were men of the match all over the pitch but Mark and Matty just shaded it for me.
