Arden 3 – 1 Ravens
Our 2nd game against Arden in a few weeks and it panned out much the same as the first. It was very even to watch and we matched them all over the pitch. Arden just had the rub of the green in front of goal and we had alot of near misses that could have made the result very different. An even start to game saw James forced to make an early save. The ball just wouldn’t drop for us as we kept pushing forward. Both teams had many corners and free kicks which Arden made better use of than we did.
The 1st goal would be crucial as it was a couple of weeks ago. Arden nicked it again after some poor defending from us. We pushed out without staying aware of where the forwards were, the ball back over the top caught us out. 1-0. Mike ha d a good free kick saved before we went 2-0 down with yet another free header from a corner. The 2nd half was even again, we created a little more this time around. Ross was influential in midfield, Harvey made an impact in midfield and Mike continued to look quite dangerous. We did struggle with the wind at the back and Arden almost got in behind us a few times Mike got a deserved goal back to make an interesting last 8 minutes with a typical good finish. A corner shortly after saw a scramble and Marks shot was blocked by the defender. The score was made a little harsh with a good goal from distance in last minute. I have really struggled with a man of the match; we had lot of steady performances. Id say you could choose anyone from Pete, Ross, Matt and Rob who all battled and tried to do the right things. Maybe Pete would just shade it.
I think we played reasonable well at times here to go with the Arden and Dosthill performances to it is good that we are stringing performances together even though we have not got the results we wanted against Arden. The Halesowen game will be a real test and is crucial to us if we have ambitions of finishing higher than we did last season. | Team
