We finally got to play our Open Cup first round match although weather once again almost won yet again.  Our first ever meeting with a Studley team who have done well over the last few seasons, gradually making their way up to Division 1.

 

Connor, Jacko and Graham made their 1^st starts of the season as we were looking to break our duck in front of goal.  It didn’t take too long and we were quickly in the ascendancy.  Mike came in off his wing and fired a left foot shot in off the bar from the edge of the area.1-0.

 

The 2^nd was a neat finish by Ben who found space in the box to slot the ball past the keeper.  2-0

 

Next, Dayles cross found Will sliding in at the back post to score his 1^st goal for the Ravens. 3-0.

 

Ben made it 4 after a superb long ball from Ross.  Ben’s pace got him there and another cool finish.

 

Brett was then bundled over in the box and Graham converted to give us a half time lead of 5-0.  We played quite well in patches.  Jacko and Mike combined well up the right and defended as a pair.  Will and Ross played some neat football and Dayle was very dangerous out on the left wing with several good corners and crosses.

 

Changes were made at half time but we continued to press.  Some more good football in midfield saw Rob and Pete linking up well.  Pete was quickly into his stride with several key passes and crosses.

 

Grahams 2^nd of the game was a free kick that flicked off a player in the wall.  Dylan then finished coolly when through 1 on 1.  Matt was brought down and got up to score the penalty himself.

 

Finally, Pete’s superb cross saw Ross score a good header at the back post.  Brett was unlucky not to score and he had several late chances before going off early.  Pete had a late shot saved.

 

A 9-0 win and a good confidence boost going into some big games.  It was nice to see us create so many chances and to have several scorers.  Let’s keep that belief and confidence for the Coleshill game next week.
