New Scouts

New Scouts must turn in their Cub Scout applications before they can participate in any scouting activity.  If you need an application please see your den leaders or pick one up at the Scout office.

Pack Meetings are always held in the OLG Cafeteria and begin promptly at 6:30 pm.

Conducting the den meetings is easy with the principle of "many hands make light work".  The leader is responsible for opening and closing the meeting, and the parent's share in the planning and presenting of the programs for each meeting.

USS YORKTOWN INFORMATION PAGE

The pack's USS Yorktown sleepover will be May 15-16 at Patriot's Point in Charleston, SC.

The cost is $60 per person, and the sign-up/payment deadline is March 15.  This is a firm deadline as we have to mail a check to the Yorktown on the 16th.  We have a limit of 60 campers, so please sign up as early as possible (top priority will go to Scouts and one parent in order of payment; if there are extra spots they will go to a second parent and/or siblings in order of payment).  You can pay via PayPal, check, Scout Bucks, or a combination.

USS Yorktown is a World War II era aircraft carrier.  Below is a link to the Yorktown's overnight camping web site:

See the "Things You Need to Know" page for useful info.

Here are some of the details:
  • We'll board the ship at 9:30 Saturday morning, May 15.
  • We'll spend Saturday night onboard and depart around 9:00 Sunday morning, May 16.
  • Saturday lunch & dinner and Sunday breakfast will be served on the ship.
  • We'll take an excursion on Saturday afternoon to tour a site in Charleston (we won't know until that day which site we'll visit).  We'll also have other activities scheduled during the day.
  • Siblings are invited to camp overnight (provided there are open spots), but they must be at least 6 years old, and there must be a female chaperone if there are any child female campers (an adult female has signed up).
  • There are also two options to visit the ship during the day but not stay overnight:
    • Option 1: pay the full $60 cost, will receive meals and participate in the excursion, can stay on the ship until curfew Saturday night and return early Sunday morning
    • Option 2: pay general admission to the ship, does not include meals or the excursion, must leave the ship at closing time and may not return Sunday morning.  If you choose this option you should NOT sign up and pay the $60 cost.
  • No outside food or drink may be brought onboard.  The ship has a snack bar and vending machines.
  • Each person should bring a sleeping bag, pillow, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, soap, towel, wash cloth and all other necessary personal effects. Insect repellent is advisable.  We will have to carry our luggage down a long pier, so a suitcase with wheels is highly recommended.
  • Each camper will be asked to provide an emergency contact person and phone number (of someone not camping).
  • Directions and other details will be provided to everyone who signs up nearer to the time of the trip.
Please contact Andy Beckham (andybeckham@earthlink.net) with any questions.
