I'm a Reader and head of the Interaction Lab in the school of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (MACS) at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh. I was a Senior Research Fellow in the
School of Informatics, Edinburgh University, UK (2003-2009). Before that, I worked
at Stanford University, California (2000-2002). I work on machine learning methods for intelligent and adaptive multimodal interfaces, including Speech Recognition, Spoken Language Understanding, Natural Language Generation, and human-computer interaction in virtual environments. I also apply this work in Technology Enhanced Learning. See my publications. News:
