Destination: Britannia Beach.

Sunday drivers from the Lower Mainland enjoy spectacular coastal scenery, north of Horseshoe Bay, on the Sea to Sky Highway (Highway 99).  Halfway between Vancouver, BC, and Whistler Mountain, The Old Customs House makes the perfect pit stop for shopping adventure. Galileo's Coffee Shop (situated across the highway from the Gallery) roasts organic beans in a glass room designed for spectators. A rare oassis for caffeine affectionadoes, in a class of its own, this historical cafe offers some of the finest baking for at least a hundred miles.

The entrance to the Old Customs House Gallery is tricky, due to construction. You must maneuver around, then cross the traintracks, heading west to the waterfront. The friendly folks at Galileo's Coffee Shop can offer directions.

Britannia Beach's Mining Museum fascinates history buffs and children, who may also satisfy hamburger cravings at Moutain Woman's distinctive blue trailer, in the townsite.
