USAWS has approved the "Turn and Burn" format for the Outlaw Lake 3
Event Roundup on August 28 & 29. In this rules exception format (which only applies to the last round of a tournament), a skier has the option of skiing their third round immediately after their second round. Skiers must still ski a complete pass in their 3rd round to get their back buoys. Example: A skier falls at 38 off in their 2nd round. They elect to take the Turn & Burn option and choose to start at 38 off in their 3rd round - but only ski 4 buoys. Their score for the 3rd round - 4 buoys only. You must get a full pass in the 3rd round to get your back buoys. Advantage of this rules exception: Out-of-town skiers with a long drive can get their 3rd round in early. Disadvantage: Skier fatigue could be a factor. It will be interesting to see how many skiers take advantage of this rules exception. |
