North/Okes 7 - 10 Crediton

posted ‎‎Nov 5, 2009 12:50 AM‎‎ by tobydaniel@fsmail.net

North/Okes faced local rivals Crediton on a blustery morning with a confident side who started from the kick off with great tackling from Charlie Goldsworthy and Liam Mitchel.Ben Sharp got lovely clean ball from the forwards and spinning the ball out along the line to Ross Voaden on the wing but was squeezed into touch.Matt Milton played a blinder in second row cleaning his and some of Creditons line out balls.Crediton ran the ball up the centre of the pitch using their big forwards to punch holes and Dan Fogerty and Dan Vincent put in some crunching tackles  but couldn’t stop Crediton  and they were rewarded with the first try.North/Okes came out after half time and ran the ball more and were rewarded with a lovely try from Ollie Cribbimms who simply outpaced his opponent.Robbie Griffiths had a great run down the wing but Crediton tackled him into touch ten metres short of the line.Unfortunately the referee gave Crediton numerous penaltys for North/Okes being offside which one being under the post gave them the chance to squeeze the lead. From all the coaches a massive welldone to the boys who put in their best team performance of the season so far.

On a very warm Sunday morning North/Okes travelled to Saracens to be greeted by a much larger pack of forwards who came at North/Okes from the off and ran in an early try.North/Okes backs ran it back up the pitch but Saracens defence was good until Dan Fogerty found a gap out wide.Saracens backs came at Okes with some good passing out to their winger who put them back in front. Half time saw some changes with capt Ben Sharp swapping with Jake Cargill coming in at 9 and a chip over the top of Saries backs Picked up by Rhys Palmer who scored putting North/Okes back in the game and with George Courtiers reliable kicking, converting all four trys meant the whistle came just a little too early.

After last weeks disappointing defeat against Saracens North/Okes looked a different team against Teignmouth.Confidence was high from the kick off and receiving the ball ran straight through Teignmouths defence to score their first of many points.Jack Davey at full back had his best game ever getting under all the high balls and managed to score under the post.Liam Mitchell had a very physical game up front as did Matt Milton winning lots of line out ball. At half time with North/Okes comfortably in the lead they made some changes bringing Frank Smith in to the centre who put in some big tackles and Dan Vincent playing outside centre made some lovely breaks.Ryan Gross`s support play on the wing was rewarded with a well deserved try.Fine performance by the whole team.
