Okehampton Rugby Football Club

Welcome to Okehampton RFC

Welcome to the new website of Okehampton RFC. It’s inception has followed a long summer of hard work culminating not only in the ‘going live’ of this site but also a fantastic refurbishment of the clubhouse, bar, kitchen, changing rooms and showers. The website is very much a ‘living entity’ and as such will evolve over the coming weeks and months to suit the needs of users. For news, match results and reports as well as details of forthcoming events this site will be the first port of call.

The refurbishment project has been substantially funded by a most generous grant from the Okehampton United Charity following the submission of a detailed proposal from the senior committee. Under the management of energetic club chairman, Robert Barkwell a legion of club members has put in hours and hours of work to help restrict costs. The end result is an absolutely fabulous facility incorporating a light and airy bar area, new cost-effective showers and one of the most modern and well-equipped commercial kitchens in the area. It is to be hoped that Okehampton RFC will once again become the premier venue for functions and events in the locality.

The club is always delighted to welcome new players of any age or ability. Training currently takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, meeting at the club at 7:00 pm. If you are interested in joining us please either just come along or alternatively contact one of the team managers. Full contact details are shown under the relevant 'teams' tab.

Season 2008/09

Okehampton approach the new 2008-09 season full of anticipation, with things progressing nicely both on and off the pitch. Last season was a good one for the club as the first team had a strong 5th placed finish in the Devon and Cornwall league and the 2nd team won their merit table to ensure promotion. The colts and junior sides also had successful seasons and with numbers at training continuing at high levels the future looks bright.

The club will be running three senior sides this season and the campaign begins with fixtures against local league rivals Tavistock. With the renovations to clubhouse, kitchen and showers completed, now is an excellent time to come and support the teams and watch the matches whilst taking advantage of the excellent facilities. All the teams will be looking for more success on the field this year, so please come along and support the club during the upcoming season.
