Mission

OKADE Mission Statement

The Association serves as a vehicle to provide statewide opportunities for those educators providing "educational excellence with caring" to all higher education students.

The Oklahoma Association for Developmental Education's main mission encompasses

  • promoting greater interest in the learning and teaching of developmental education;
  • providing services and opportunities for the professional growth and development of educators;
  • promoting the value of developmental education;
  • cooperative efforts promoting the purpose of OKADE;
  • serving as a resource for local, state, and federal organizations;and
  • stressing the need for informed and responsible participation in educational issues.

The Oklahoma Association for Developmental Education was founded in 1994, making it the first statewide organization in Oklahoma promoting developmental education and directing students to a successful collegiate career.

It is a broad-based organization representing elementary, secondary, vocational, two-year, and four-year academic institutions. The association provides to members the following benefits:

  • quarterly newsletters where members can exchange developmental education information and activity ideas and can receive a resource base for professional contacts;
  • an annual conference and SHARE FAIR where attending participants can receive resources and information on local, state, and national developmental education issues;
  • an opportunity for personal networking among developmental education professionals;
  • participation in a scholarship program for exemplary students;
  • professional links and affiliation with national developmental education groups;
  • recognition of noteworthy achievements and exemplary efforts in developmental education; and
  • consideration for the totality of education interrelationships among academic institutions.
