I am a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Havighurst Center for Russian and Post-Soviet Studies at Miami University and Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science at Miami University. I also hold an appointment as Senior Researcher at the International Center for the Study of Institutions and Development at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow. In 2010-11 I was a post-doctoral fellow at Columbia University's Harriman Institute. I defended my doctoral dissertation in the Department of Political Science at Emory University in August 2010. My research spans comparative politics, democratization, political parties, democratic accountability, electoral studies, authoritarian regimes, Russia, and the former Soviet Union. I am currently working on a book manuscript that examines the emergence of dominant parties in non-democracies. Other research examines elite defections from hegemonic parties, opposition coordination, political loyalty in authoritarian regimes, accountability in new democracies, and various topics in Russian politics.
