Mentor ASL Group - Coffee Chat & Karaoke - Tues Feb 21

posted Feb 6, 2012 11:02 AM by Patrick Hughes   [ updated Feb 6, 2012 11:13 AM ]

The Mentor ASL Group has been meeting since April 2007 - originally started at Barnes & Noble, the group moved to Mentor Library in September 2010, before moving to its current home inside of Seekers Coffeehouse since September 2011.

This will be the last month that we will be meeting at Seekers Coffeehouse, as Seekers will be closing their business at the end of February.

For our last event inside Seekers, we are going to "step outside our comfort level", and invite you to do the same!  :-)

Tuesday, February 21, 2012
Seekers Coffeehouse
9443 Mentor Avenue
Mentor OH  44060

6:30 - Doors Open ... Arrive anytime after 6:30.  Some people often arrive later - after class or later in the evening.  Anytime is fine.

Please order a food or beverage item from the business that has graciously hosted us for the last 6 months

You are welcome to socialize, hang out, enjoy your coffee, sandwich or dessert as long as you wish (closing is at 10pm) ... bring your favorite board game (don't forget to take it home with you), great way to meet new people - great opportunity for students to practice their signing with others.

After 7:00 ... we will not stop your conversation (or food/beverage for that matter), but we will have access to Seekers' Famous Karaoke machine- and for anyone who would like to sign a song karaoke style (no words to listen to) ... we welcome you!

No judging.
Not a contest.
Have fun!
Don't be intimidated.
Experienced signers are needed to show some of the beginners how this all works.!

If you are considering participating in ASL Idol (at Lakeland) - this might give you a small taste of getting up on the stage as well.

If you are not considering participating in ASL Idol (at Lakeland) - this might change your mind.   :-)

Future dates and location for Mentor ASL Group will depend on the status of the coffeeshop currently known as Seekers - which is slated to close at the end of February 2012.

Seekers Coffeehouse has a menu of items ranging from coffees & teas (of course), but also including foods (sandwiches, appetizers, snacks, cookies, other desserts - items available in all price ranges.

While you are not required to purchase anything, please remember that Seekers is generously providing their room to us for free. Any purchases made by our group is greatly appreciated!

Seekers typically has a food or drink special every night.  Ask about the special (or look for the dry erase board) when you arrive!  :-)

Future dates and location will depend on the status of the coffeeshop currently known as Seekers - which is slated to close at the end of February 2012.

NOTE:  Seekers closes at 10:00 pm - you are welcome to stay until closing, however please respect their time and leave before they close.

SEEKERS IS LOCATED AT 9443 MENTOR AVENUE (ROUTE 20) - IN A SMALL SHOPPING STRIP WITH DON TEQUILA'S MEXICAN RESTAURANT. IT IS BETWEEN HALF-PRICE BOOK STORE AND CICI'S PIZZA BUFFET. IT IS DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM GREAT TASTE BUFFET.
