Institute Links & Supporting Resources
During this session of the NIU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences External Programming Online Faculty Institute on March 20, 2009, Jason Rhode, Assistant Director of the Faculty Development and Instructional Design Center,
will share technologies used for online course development and
delivery. Participants will participate in hands-on activities
involving blogs, wikis, and other Web 2.0 technologies that can be
incorporated to develop an engaging learning experience for students.
Session Goals:
- Develop a simple presentation that includes presentation slides and audio
- Select technologies to incorporate into an online course
- Explain what RSS is and how it saves time and allows for the development of community
- Explore the use of blogs, wikis, and podcasts in an educational context
- Experience posting to a blog and contributing to a wiki page
- Review a variety of content presentation samples
