Yep there are real modern day vampires just as there are real modern day witches. There are two main types although more often than not most vampires would be a mixture of both. the two types are:
Psi vampires: Also known as psychic vampires. These are people who need to feed of the psychic energy of others (and they love us witches btw or any other spiritual person as we are apparently full of psychic energy). Feeding is done through visualisation often through imaging ropes or tethers growing from the vampire to their victim and then they would visualize sucking the energy through these ropes/tethers. This is often done without the permission of the victim and he/she may not even notice what is happening other than he/she might feel a bit extra tired.
Sangunarian vampires: Also known as sang vampires. These are people who need to feed off the blood of others. Permission and health tests are essential for this practice to be carried out. The donor will often have to be screened for HIV and other blood born virus first before an act of bloodletting is commenced. Bloodletting is more often than not done through a small shallow cut by a sharp blade which releases a tiny amount of blood which the vampire will feed upon.
Vampires will say that their path is not one by choice but by necessity. They claim to have serious withdrawal pains if they go too long without feeding and this is actually quite noticeable and genuine if you ever study these people. They go through a lot of suffering.
You may also be interested to know that there are a lot of them and they are growing in ever increasing numbers much like Wicca did. actully there is another type called lifestylers there the posere of the vampire world just like satinists are of the witch world. now you can be both type in one as well.
Mrs/Ms. Norton,
Do let me know if you need anything else!
1. First I live in Utah a state were people are very P.C. and being different is shunned upon (people fear the LDS church) So,how would you make a coven/group friendly and appealing to Vampires who are seeking others like them?
That is a good question. Meetups used to be the best real way to meet and explore the common ground. I suggest locating likeminded people by posting on various forums and bulletins boards locally to meet at your local coffeehouses or libraries. Any quiet but public place you can sit down and get to know people.
2. How would one invite those who are interested in a group with persons like themselves without making them feel disrespected or that it would become public knowledge that they are a Vampire?
It is fairly easy to become involved. Find reputable places through The Atlanta Vampire Alliance, Sanguinarious.org and others that have been around for a long time. They respect one’s private life.
3. What's the biggest fear or concern to Vampires today?
Bing outed and losing one’s child is the biggest. There is a few court cases involving that issue actually.
4. Has this lifestyle affected you and/or other in your family?
I have almost no family so I can’t really comment on that one. But it has changed my life as it has allowed me to live life on my own terms, doing what I love – creating books and art. I have hundreds of friends all over the world and many amazing people I call best friends out of it. Without this change, I would not have had certain experiences, such as a private art lesson from Joseph Vargo of Monolithgraphics, or spent nights in Michelle Belangers vast library chatting on deep intellectual thoughts with her and friends, or attended so many events to learn how others think and feel.
5. What is the Best and worst thing about being a Vampire?
By what I know from friends, the feeling of being alone and suffering physical conditions is the worst part. The best part is sleeping in to avoid sunlight! All kidding aside, we have a huge appreciation for the cathartic value of aesthetics in music, art, literature, film and have some very wonderful people to share our existence in this dark world. I feel happy to be a part of it all.
6. Do you believe that all people should be treated equally ?
All people aren’t equal. Let us be perfectly real here. Stratification is a very obvious thing, we all have different levels of intellect and social conditioning so we collectively and individually all behave differently so it stands to reason by our very actions we all can not and should not be treated the same. By the same token, we all should be treated fairly and in accordance to our actions.
7. Are there some media Stereo types that you would like to have broken or them to stop using?
Oh I could (and did) write a book on the subject! Embracing the Darkness: Understanding Dark Subcultures was all about breaking media hype and public stereotyping! The song by Voltaire Vampire Club is full of jokes and real situations that the public uses – but sadly it is actually the various albeit small percent of the vampires themselves who contribute to the very problem. They feel they have to be a certain way to ‘be a vampire’ and are walking clichés. Just be yourself!
8. Are the current Vampire tends like Twilight and Vampire Diaries a good thing or a bad thing and why?
It brings awareness to the lifestyles and people in the community, but it is bad because it brings its own set of problems with the attention.
9. Do you feel you are well respected in the Vampire community?
I certainly would like to think so! All joking aside, The Vampire Don once told me “You are an Elder because you did something – you got off your a** and wrote a book!” I do know from fans letters and the warm welcome I get from people when I go to events they seem to like me, so I am honored and do my very best to represent them when speaking in public.
10. Are you the head of any Houses or groups in your area and are new member welcome?
I happen to be in an enormous amount of groups online but am not the head of any. I used to be co-chair and founder of The Fort Wayne Pagan Alliance of two hundred members but it eventually ended after a few years. I don’t have the time to lead any group but I do enjoy learning from many. Sociology from a sub cultural standpoint is what brought me to this type of thing in the first place.
11. Are you a Sang or A Psi Vampire?
Neither, I am an occult researcher and vampirologist (a nod to college Martin Riccardo for coining the term). I do happen to be a member of the VVC and several other groups in the community however and have been accepted as part of the community.
12. Do you have a type of religion in your life and If so, how do you balance being a Vampire and faith in your life?
I am a card carrying member of The Church of Satan, and my current rank is that of Warlock. My faith allows for me to indulge in whatever pleasing aesthetic I find harmonious to me and Satanism and Gothic classical appreciation for the finer things in life such as music, wine and ark trappings is very compatible.
13. How to you Balance your Day side life and your Vampire night side?
I can only speak for myself, but my persona is both. I tend to be pretty lucky as my life’s work as a writer and publisher keep me public just being who I am. I couldn’t imagine it being any different. But my career is not in jeopardy and I don’t have a family to worry about.
14. Do you go by a Vampire name out of protection or other reasons and why?
I go by the name that I used online to connect with people of different subcultures online from years ago so that they would be willing to open up to somebody who was not an outsider, similar to Katherine Ramsland in the beginning of Piercing the Darkness. The difference is, it stuck with me so people only know me by that pen name. But I don’t hide my real name, and use it as publisher and founder of Dark Moon Press.
15. How has the new Vampire craze effected you or others in the Vampire Community?
Myself, not really other than my books are becoming more read and I find the response by email to various articles I write for Yahoo Contributor gets positive responses. As far as other people, yes it has effected everything to the fact the lifestyle is more open to public scrutiny and growing acceptance (as evident by Allure of the Vampire: Our Sexual Attraction to the Undead by myself, and Joseph Laycock’s book Vampires Today) is used for examples in news sources for documentaries. It is a huge community and growing bigger all the time.
16. Do you think movies such as Twilight and tv shows such as Vampire diaries bring in the wrong type of person in to seeking the Real Vampire Community
Oh without a doubt! These types are not seeking the VC at all, what they want is to be told their fantasy world is real and are crushed when told it is not. The Atlanta Vampire Alliance reports that during such premieres they get huge amounts of new member applications and queries that ask questions readily available to anyone who does a careful search for sane answers. It is shocking how little people use their heads before opening their mouths these days. Deep, probing questions are fine; I just wish there were more of them.
17. Has the Internet helped or harmed the Vampire community?
Both. The internet is a double edged sword. More and more I cringe reading Face Book posts of the tripe that makes one think the online world is populated by Twilight vampire wannabes who truly think Edward is out there. But much of the Elders works can be found as well as guidance if you seek the right source. Double check and question everything!
18. Is Discresstion still very important to Vampires?
I think for legal reasons such as child custody cases and someone’s employment at stake there needs to be. One must use common sense.
19. If are an open person?are other drawn to you or do they shy away from you?
I used to be pretty shy and introverted. Now as a former radio show host and public speaker, I am out in the public much more and don’t mind the public viewing my so much. But overall I do tend to keep to myself outside of conventions and college lectures. People are somewhat intimidated by how I look even in a solid black suit but do warm up to me rather quickly.
20. How old do you tell people are and is it your true age?
Well there is no sense in lying when information is out there. I really hate the people who post “I’m a hundred year old vampire from Romania” Please. That is the reason why you don’t get credibility from the so called normals of the world.
21. Do you tend to dress the Vampire part more of the time and how does this effect you regular daily life ?
Considering I am what I am all the time, I guess so. Does an all black suit including shirt and tie with silver jewelry make one vampire or just classy? I couldn’t tell you! I do recall standing in line to cash a check and two huge linebackers were behind me when I dressed this way (of course I had long hair and a black overcoat with the suit) and one told the other to move up closer. I will never forget how the larger of the two said “Hell no man- Vampire in Brooklyn there gonna jump up and bite my neck!”
22. If I were to meet you on the street would, I guess you’re a Vampire( cause lord knows people don't guess I'm a psychic, witch, reverend, vamp)?
You just might! I typically wear all black but am well dressed (I have an image to keep –wink)I am told I have a look about me that either draws people to me or makes the avoid me, depending on your sense of awareness and empathy level. Children tend to be the most amusing for me as they are still unaffected by social contracts – that is to say they keep it real and don’t pretend! Kids will either stare and point or hide from me. I seem to fascinate them.
23. Are most Vampires Dark and Brooding, or is that my perception of the one I've met?
Many are, but you get all types and personalities in the living vampire community. That is what makes it so interesting!
24. Do you have some type of fangs?
No I never felt the need for any.
25. If you are a Sang (I once saw some questions on a Vampire site for teens it asked:) Can you smell Blood? How long can you go with out Blood? ( this one made me laugh!) Can Vampires Smell a women on her period and does it bother you?(the last question is optional! Some people have an amazing sense of smell. Don Henrie told me of his experiences when I visited him right before the airing of his spot on Tyra Banks that his challenges were to smell and tell what foods were in front of him. Blood itself does have a very distinguished scent to it so it is very possible. Some vampires claim to be able to last months without blood, others

First I live in Utah a state were people are very P.C. and being different is shunned upon (people fear the LDS church) So,how would you make a coven/group friendly and appealing to Vampires who are seeking others like them?
First, I want to note that Utah is not a good place for anyone to be; I was there myself for about a year one. If you are going to try and make the Mormons happy the only way is to become a clone irregardless of how you feel. Remember that this is a religion that encourages people to stop associating with anyone who disagrees with the church, and says that the LGBT community just needs to be cured of the harmful temptations because no one is gay. For all definitions they are the single most powerful, and dangerous, cult in America today. There are only two ways that I see that a group in Utah could make it. First, and easiest, hide. Don't let anyone even catch a hint of what is going on. That only works so long though. Also, hiding makes it easier to be preyed upon when someone does find out; not if, when. The second option is much more difficult, but affords much more protection; be as public as possible. The thing is that there are two churches that claim vampirism on a large scale; the Vampire Church, and Temple of the Vampire. Both are utter nonsense, but they set a precedent that you are covered under US Constitutional law. That means that any discrimination based upon being a vampire, if played correctly, can easily fall under US anti-discrimination laws as it would then be based on religion. It is a nasty way to go about it, but there is not much they could do about it. This would require that your group get some legal knowledge though.
How would one invite those who are interested in a group with persons like themselves without making them feel disrespected or that it would become public knowledge that they are a Vampire?
Everyone ends up in the online communities at some point. Just a simple note in a few places would likely do.
What's the biggest fear or concern to Vampires today?
Likely that would have to be that the science gets involved and it turns out that it really is just psychological.
When did you know or fell you were a Vampire?
I would assume feel. 14. I started wanting something that I had no idea what. My girlfriend at the time introduced me to a local vampire group and that turned out to be it
When did you tell other that you were a Vampire and why?
Immediately. That didn't work out so well though. I stayed hidden for quite a long time and only in the last few years have been open about it again. Currently, I am open about it to basically anyone, except my mother; she still randomly threatens to send me back to the psychiatric ward.
Has this lifestyle effected you and/or other in your family?
Other than the short trip to the psych ward? Nope.
What is the Best and worst thing about being a Vampire?
Not sure there is much good. The hunger pains after not feeding for more than a month suck. I guess the euphoria and amazingly up feeling after feeding is fairly good though.
Do you believe that all people should be treated equally ?
Definitely. This is a common thread of most religions and cultures. My favorite is the Arabic version that comes in multiple digestible parts."Judge what is said not he who says it," "the injury of one innocent is an injury to all, the death of an innocent is the death of the world." The second one is from the Qur'an. The same is said all over though.
Are there some media Stereo types that you would like to have broken or them to stop using?
The problem is not so much stereotyping as it is lack of anything past fiction. Even the shows that do have actual vampires on leave the viewer coming away with the legends more reinforced than the reality.
Are the current Vampire tends like Twilight and Vampire Diaries a good thing or a bad thing and why?
They just are. It is a cycle in culture to go for vampires. I like the way it was put, and I'm sure it was taken from elsewhere, in Dance in the Vampire Bund. In the pilot the guy on the gameshow that was a professor stated that it is a trend in legends that is easy to trace going back at least a hundred years. When in good economic times the public goes for zombies and Frankenstein's monster type stories. These show a great lumbering beast that can not be stopped. However, during economic down turns they go to vampires. This represents in the psyche of the masses a rich few sucking the life's blood out of the country and continuing beyond their years of influence at the loss of others.
Do you fell you are well respected in the Vampire community?
No. People figure out who I am and they generally discount me instantly. Recently I have taken to letting people know that after a while so that they see that I am not to be held guilty by association with my ex-wife. People are starting to know who I am now; but they also know that I will state when some one is just making crap up, or are otherwise full of it.
Are you the head of any Houses or groups in you area and are new member welcome?
Not the head of a house; don't want to be. Sounds like to much of a pain to me.
Are you a Sang or A Psi Vampire?
I drink blood.
Do you have a type of religion in your life and If so, how do you balance being a Vampire and faith in your life?
I am fairly Taoist, but I do understand quite a bit about religions of the world, and quite a few other philosophies. One of the central ideas of the Tao is that there is not this good or bad, black and white, scenario. Instead, it is all shades of grey, and changing by the moment. My example is this scenario: a man shoots another. Was the shooter a cop? What about a hit man? Maybe a soldier? Soldiers are the best for the example as one countries hero is another's murderer.
How to you Balance your Day side life and your Vampire night side?
There is not difference. I am just me. Slightly edited at times, but always just me.
Do you go by a Vampire name out of protection or other reasons and why?
I don't use other names any more. I have pointed out that there is no reason to online anyway. If someone really wants to know they can trace all your aliases easily enough; with in a few weeks generally.
How has the new Vampire craze effected you or others in the Vampire Community?
It has brought a good deal of annoying roleplaying types. That's about it.
Do you think movies such as Twilight and tv shows such as Vampire diaries bring in the wrong type of person in to seeking the Real Vampire Community
They can. They also bring in those that have been ignoring things for their whole life too.
Has the Internet helped or harmed the Vampire community?
Better communication is a good thing. The problem is that you can say you are a 12 foot tall harry hermaphrodite online and no one can really prove otherwise with out a good bit of work.
Is Discresstion still very important to Vampires?
Not really. As I said, people can be tracked to their aliases easily. Just posting one thing is enough to make a permanent connection with the community.
If are an open person?are other drawn to you or do they shy away from you?
They are fine. The worst I got was being Tolyatti to avoid talking about it during class time and in the class room.
How old do you tell people are and is it your true age?
I am 33. I was born on July 17, 1977 in Germany. All facts.
Do you tend to dress the Vampire part more of the time and how does this effect you regular daily life ?
I dress how I like. Usually it gets attention. Mainly people saying that they like it. I have had one person say they didn't but they were wearing their pants around their ankles anyway.
If I were to meet you on the street would ,I guess yor a Vampire( cause lord knows people don't guess I'm a psychic, witch, reverend, vamp)?
Possibly. Don't know. Guess it would depend on observation and how I was doing that day. Many on if I am drinking down some blood, but then I wouldn't be on the street anyway.
Have you ever been outed and if so how did this effect you or other who are yor friends and family (I do not see my self a vampire persay, but I do have vampire friends and I assocate with many of them.,some pagans on a utah website tried to say they would out me as I was a vampire, need less to say this site is gone now)?
I think not applicable at this point. ^.^
Are most Vampires Dark and Bruding,or is that my pesiption of the one I've met?
Nope, that's just the drama queens.
Do you have some type of fangs?
Yup. I keep them in a case in my purse in case I feel the need to be funny.
(Imove energy ,you would call me Pis Vamp,I once blew up a clock radio with energy from my fringer tips) If you are a Psi Vampire what weird things have happiend to you?(if you are not skip)
I have had odd things happen. Removed a feather from the hair of one girl that was annoying me from 1/4 mile away, had a dagger fly at me with no one near it, and killed the power in a room by power surge one time. That has nothing with being a psi vamp though.
If you are a Sang (I once saw some questions on a Vampire site for teens it asked:) Can you smell Blood? How long can you go with out Blood? ( this one made me laugh!) Can Vampires Smell a women on her period and does it bother you?(the last question is optional!
Yes, at least 8 years, and yes/no. The 8 years was that i couldn't find a donor for that long. I'm with out one again, but the monthly effects are still around. That is that about once a month I go through what has been called starvation sickness by most, and "Romanian flu" by one inventive person I know.

myself and 1 other are the head of our house ,my biggest fear is persecution , I have a heightened sense but no I can not smell menstrual blood .we dont look our age , and I have noticed I am more focused and stronger on certain things .
I do not feel as though the OVC is doing damage to our community but trying to help bring us together . And yesI feel movies lik twilight have damaged our reputation as a community , I have seen the movies and actually have some of the actors on my friends list .!
Myself have my own abilities , I am an empath , and see things . i have in our house a psychic , and a witch we welcma all new members !
, even those who just want to learn .
If we were to meet on the street you would not know that I am a Vampire .my life and my outward presentation are not gothic , but to be honest I am a tomboy , i have a garden , a job , a home , a family and look like anybody else aside from the Native American in me .
i am a sang and the only downfall to this that I personally experienced is a shortage in donors . The dnor I have now has been with me for 6 years , and is a trusted friend she is a member of our house and a very skilled witch .
We would love to be able to cme out and tell people who we are but people fear what they do not understand .
I have never blown anything up , which is remarkable , but I have seen things that I dont cared to wish on anyone and have felt the turmoil of emotions from perfect strangers , that itself is quit a turmoil with your own emotions.
As for my religion I love to explore new things so I have not settled on just one .
We do have a Wiccan , pagan , luciferian spiritualist , pagan ect within our house , and we cohabitat fine , we have learned to agree to disagree on certain things !
Myself as I said I am exploring a few religious alternatives as of right now so my religion is up in the air .
We all use our own names , I dont feel as though we should hide behind something that is not oursto use , so we useour real names .
If I am able to think of anything else I will get back to you , but I am at work right now and am on my cell phone .

not all Vampires are pagan , there are several that chose to follow their own religous paths .
Sanguinarian
(blooddrinker)
The term Sanguinarian was created to describe vampires that actually drink blood. In the majority of cases, this is human blood, but some also feed from animal blood. However, what a sang vampire actually requires is core energy, or "soul energy" (aka life energy), which radiates from a dense energy bundle located in the center of the body just below the person's navel. This type of energy is carried at the core of a person's personal energy field, and it is a "heavy", dense energy that can be difficult to manipulate, or extract from that field. For some reason, on which we can speculate but cannot yet be certain, blood provides a tie to this energy, allowing it to be more easily drawn from the donor.
Blood is not the only tie. Life energy is also released more freely during sexual activity--without going into details that might render this page a rating higher than PG-13, I'll allow your imagination to fill in the rest. Some folks require a physical component during this type of feeding, some do not.
Still, not all life-energy feeders require a physical link...some are capable of extracting life-energy directly from a donor, without any need for physical contact. This has primarily to do with psychic strength, finesse, and skill. It seems that some sanguinarians and other life-energy feeders may also feed instinctively, drawing life energy from others in brief but deep contacts, particularly those they have links to already. Not all do this, however.
Some life-energy feeders possess certain secondary traits that identify them as having a cause for their condition in common. Although they may not always feed on blood, Sanguinarian vampires tend to be sensitive to sunlight, and have a variety of other traits mentioned in the in-depth section on one type of Sang vampire on this site. Born sanguinarian vampires purportedly have the same traits, but the cause of their condition is unknown.
Others may have problems with the energy channels connecting their life-energy center to their body, so that less of their own energy is available to them than should be. This can be due to either a congenital problem, or due to a psychic injury or deliberate constriction caused by another person or entity. Sometimes this problem can be corrected, occasionally it cannot be.
It should be noted that any life-energy feeder MAY use any of the listed methods to take life-energy from other living things, whether they be humans, animals, or even plants. So long as they have the skill to do so, a sanguinarian could easily have their needs satisfied by feeding off of life energy from trees, for example. However, few sanguinarians appear to have the strength and finesse necessary, though it is possible for them to train the ability.
On some occasions, a person will take up feeding on life energy for religious or other belief-related reasons. If they do so for long enough, they may become addicted to having the additional energy in their system, and suffer the usual negative symptoms if they cease to feed regularly.
Psi-Energy Feeders
(psionic vampires)
The light, static-like energy that makes up the bulk of a person's energy field (aura) is psi energy. It seems to be associated with nervous system activity, at least to some degree--increased nervous activity causes an increase in psi energy generation. When generated by a living thing that has a nervous system (or similar structure), it has a dynamic patterning to it, but it can also be generated by certain mechanical devices, whether created deliberately to do so, or which do so by chance. The energy from mechanical devices has been described as "flat"...it carries a static pattern associated mainly with the hardware in question. Storms may also generate psi, or a precursor energy that the nervous system converts easily and automatically into psi. Like other energy types, the patterning itself is largely unimportant...energy can be depatterned, or repatterned, to suit, so no source for psi is innately better than another, though preferences certainly exist.
Some psi-vamps are born this way. One cause is a rare born-psi specialty genetic trait that involves a high degree of energy manipulation ability and capacity, with a nullified ability to generate psi. Others simply have a congenital defect that prevents a normal level of energy generation. In one rare case, I encountered a person who was perfectly capable of generating psi, but who could not capacitate it to any degree, so he would draw psi from outside sources when using psi abilities, as he did not have enough stored to perform certain tasks.
Injuries due to attacks by entities or psychic combat can also damage energy generation ability, and just as with life-energy feeders, psi feeders may be the victims of persons who deliberately restrict their ability to generate energy. Sometimes these types of problems can be solved, sometimes not.
As with life-energy feeders, some people may take up psi-vampirism out of belief or religion, and become addicted to it as a result. Additionally, newly awakening born-psis may suffer a "draining and dumping" syndrome that is due to their having no control over newly active energy manipulation abilities. It's not uncommon for such people to discover that by deliberately drawing energy after dumping, they feel better, so they often assume that they are born psi-vamps. Again, they become addicted to this, and their own ability to generate energy tends to atrophy as a result. This compounds the difficulty of breaking the addiction, because they must build up their own energy generation ability, as they reduce their drawing from outside sources.
Psi has no real physical tie, so psi-vampires invariably feed by drawing psi directly. Some persons with very low level ability require physical contact to do so. Many persons do not even need to be in the same country as the person they are drawing from, though they must establish a solid link to them.
Of course, there are people who draw both life and psi energy from others...usually their reasons for doing so are also mixed, and vary widely. Additionally, vampires may draw other energy types from other sources, but this is largely unrelated to vampirism...the energy can be used to perform psychic or magical activities, and will take up space in a person's system that may make them feel a bit better, but cannot actually substitute entirely for the actual energy types they require.
Lifestylers
|
Vampyre Lifestylers or "Vampyres" (as opposed to "Vampires") are individuals who are attracted to the contemporary vampire lore and who seek to emulate it by dressing in exotic vampire-like costumery, decorating their homes in dark Victorian (or funeral parlor) gloom, assuming prosthetic fangs and colored contact lenses. It is partly outgrown but distinct from the Gothic subculture.
|
|
|
|
The term is borrowed from "lifestyler Goth", which denotes people who are so serious about being Goth that they dress and act the part at all times and in all areas of life, as well as for clubbing or concerts. Although aesthetic styles are similar and they tend to attend the same clubs, Goths do not become members of clans or adopt the vampyre ideology.
The Vampire subculture* (or Vampyre Scene) like other system of beliefs consists of people who have committed themselves to an ideology, maintain ethical tenets within a hierarchical system, participate in rituals specific to their clans and in which aesthetics holds a significant, often magical place of significance within the group; aesthetic being broadly defined as symbolism, style, language, religion, art, presentation of self, appearance, and other cultural expressions.
* From a sociological perspective, when a group of people participate in a shared aesthetic in which identity and status are organized around a style that is distinguishable from the dominant culture it is referred to as a subculture.
The vampire subculture is largely a social creation within Western popular culture, seemingly drawing from the rich recent history of popular culture related to cult symbolism, horror films, the fiction of Anne Rice, and the styles of Victorian England.
The Vampire subculture seems to exist in opposition to the Judeo-Christian principles of mainstream Western Society. Vampyres pride themselves on practicing the antithesis of Christian ethics and this is apparent in the sexual and violent activities that permeate their interactions and rituals.
Many people are introduced to the Vampyre scene through the role-playing game "Vampire: the Masquerade," others through the erotic nature of the lifestyle and many more through popular literature such as Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles.
The subculture is typically delineated by a particular style of dress, referred to as "garb" and decor that combines elements of the Victorian, Punk, Glam, and Gothic fashions with styles featured in vampire films and fiction.
The general lay-out including but not limited to a very pale complexion, a wardrobe made up predominantly of dark clothing, a Victorian, or Renaissance fashion style of dress and hairs, black or blood-red lipstick, macabre silver jewelry, assortment of fetish, corset, bondage, sunglasses, long and sharp fingernails fangs, FX contacts, and a generally melancholy or lugubrious air to go with it. Preferred colors are usually red, black, and purple.
Music is dominated by Gothic; other genres include Industrial, Death Metal, Classical, Techno and a variety of other forms. Some of the more popular Vampyre bands include Inkubus Sukkubus, Type O Negative, Nosferatu and Malkador. Wine is the drink of choice and some members will also drink absinthe although it is illegal in the United States and most European countries.
Vampyres frequently attend Fetish Scene and Body Scene Clubs, which involve public sadomasochistic activities. It is at the numerous "Scene" clubs where the worlds of body mutilation, piercing, performance art, blood rituals, tattooing, and all forms of bondage and violent sexual activity converge.
Lifestylers often form alternative extended families and social structures modeled on the "covens", “sires” or "clans" of vampire fiction and role-playing games. Many also utilize lingo and terminology taken from vampire fiction and RPGs. Some are real vampires in the sense of craving blood, while others are blood fetishists, and still others are just drawn to the "Vampyre aesthetic".
The subculture is most apparent in North America and Europe, and to a lesser extent in certain parts of South America and Asia. There are active groups, dedicated bars and night-clubs in New York, London, Paris, Montreal, Tokyo and Melbourne.

The Donor Bill of Rights
1) As a donor, I know that it is through my personal sacrifice that the vampires needs are met. It is my loving nature that allows this relationship to continue. It is my right to decline to feed the vampire for any reason.
2) As a donor to a vampiric being, it is my right to know that I am in a vampiric/donor relationship that will be mutually beneficial to both me and the vampire I am donating my life essence to.
3) I am the essence provider. It is for me to decide whether or not I am able to give of my essence to the vampire I am with. I must be allotted time to heal and regain my essence in order to better support my vampiric partner.
4) At no time should my wounds not be allowed to heal.
5) At no time should I feel stressed about giving of my essence, if at any time I feel stressed, I have the right to back away from the feed, without being or feeling threatened by my vampiric partner.
6) Should I feel threatened in any way, shape or form, I have the right to seek guidance and council from other donors and leaders of the vampire community.
7) As a donor to a vampiric individual, I have the right to know that my position as lover, friend, family, roommate should not be jeopardized by my not wanting to give of my essence. In the slang, "it should not cost me my ass to be a donor."
8) As a donor, I should also respect the needs of the vampire and try to learn more about his/her feeding habits in order to help stabilize his/her imbalances in energy.
9) As a donor in a vampire/donor relationship, I realize that though I have many necessary rights, I must also take cares not to abuse the person I am donating my essence to. These same rights afforded me in this Bill of Rights should also be extended to the vampire I am donating too.
10) Ultimately it is my right to know that I will be safe in all aspects of the vampiric/donor relationship and should I ever feel that my safety is jeopardized, I have the right to walk away clear and free.
Ultimately, it is our (both the donor and the vampire) responsibility to insure that we are not abused. It is our (both the donor and the vampire) personal responsibility to leave a vampire/donor relationship that we feel is abusive in any nature. We can not be abused unless we allow ourselves to be.
The Sanguine Creed
- the formal statement of religious belief or confession of faith, as in the Apostle’s Creed, or
- a system of belief or principles, as in “ laws banning discrimination on the basis of race, color, or creed.”
Repect the blood:
It can bring life or death.
Honor the blood:
It is our weakness and our strangth.
Celebrate the blood:
It is our sacrad ,precious gift.
Ethical Principles for the Vampire Community
We recognize the intrinsic value of everyone, regardless of age, sexual orientation, color, spiritual philosophy, or gender. We do not adhere to or promote any particular religious or political creed. We strive to create an atmosphere in which individuals are not only free to create their own meanings, values, and convictions, but are, in fact, expected to do so. However, it is shortsighted to tell someone to think for him or herself without also providing some tools for building. To that end, we have created this document.
Respect
If we want others to respect us, we must be willing to offer them the same respect. Our beliefs evolve from our own experiences so there is no one set of "rules" that is right for everyone. We won't always agree with each other and there's nothing wrong with that. We promote fair treatment of others and keeping our minds open to their views. It violates our principles to accept or encourage arrogance and conceit. We will not grant respect to those who prove themselves unworthy of it.
Honesty Each of us is responsible for his or her own words and actions. We must be honest with ourselves and those with whom we come into contact. If we lie, we show disrespect to others. We will not tolerate those who lie to us or about us because this demonstrates that they do not respect us as individuals.
Integrity "No man is an island." By the same token, no member of our community, whether vampire, donor, or enthusiastic advocate is isolated from the rest. What each of us does reflects not only on ourselves, but on the rest of the community as well. We discourage gossip, both the spreading of rumors and listening to them. We encourage everyone to be him or herself. We believe that adopting a phony persona robs us of the opportunity to form genuine, lasting bonds with others. We encourage more experienced members of the community to help those who come seeking knowledge. However, we recognize the existence of sensationalistic media and its threat to our safety and that of our loved ones. We expect those members of our community who appear in public, whether through print, film, radio, or the Internet, to conduct themselves in a responsible manner.
Safety
We, vampires and donors alike, are committed to protecting the safety of ourselves and our families. We will make every effort to educate ourselves on safe feeding methods, including but not limited to: basic anatomy, first aid, and prevention of HIV and other diseases.
We will not put ourselves or loved ones at risk by:
- feeding from those who carry a disease, whether it is HIV or a common cold
- allowing others to feed from us if our health is in any way compromised
- feeding from anyone who is intoxicated or otherwise unable to give informed consent
- failing to practice safer sex or feeding from those who do not practice safer sex
- feeding from someone whose psychological health may be harmed by it
- failing to screen donors carefully, taking into account both physical and mental health
- drawing unfavorable attention to ourselves by either flaunting what we are in an inappropriate setting or exposing ourselves to those who actively seek to exploit us for their personal gain

'The Black Veil', v. 2.0 Plus Information
by Michelle Belanger (Additional info by Sanguinarius)
"The Black Veil" (v. 2.0), also known as the "13 Rules of the Community", was composed by Michelle Belanger of House Kheperu, Father Todd of House Sahjaza, and COVICA in 2000 as a voluntary standard of common sense, etiquette and ideals for the Sanguinarium and the greater vampyre/vampire community. This is not a text to instruct someone on how to be a vampire, but rather a code of ethics for those who are and wish to adopt them as their own personal code. It is based on an earlier version written by Father Todd in 1999 or possibly in 1998 (the copyright states 1999).
*
1. DISCRETION
This lifestyle is private and sacred. Respect it as such. Do not make a sideshow of yourself. We do not have to prove ourselves to anyone. Appearing on public TV to tell the world that you drink blood is useless attention-getting. It gets a negative reaction for the whole community. Our place is in the shadows; our greatest protection from small-minded humanity is the fact that they do not believe we exist. Someday they may be ready for us to reveal ourselves to them, but that time is not now.
Do not hide from your nature, but never show it off to those who won't understand.
2. DIVERSITY
Our paths are many, even though the journey we are on is essentially the same. No single one of us has all the answers to who and what we are. Respect everyone's personal views and practices. We cannot let petty differences of ideology prevent us from maintaining a unified community; there are enough who would attack us from the outside.
Our diversity is our strength. Let our differences in viewpoint enrich us but never divide us amongst ourselves.
3. SAFETY
Use sense when indulging your nature. Do not flaunt what you are in public places. Feed in private and make certain your donors will be discrete about what happens between you. Donors who create rumors and gossip about us are more harm than they're worth. If you engage in blood-letting, put safety and caution above all other things. Blood-born diseases are a very real thing, and we cannot risk endangering ourselves or others through irresponsibility. Screen donors carefully, making certain they are in good health both mentally and physically.
Never overindulge or get careless. The safety of the entire community rests upon each member's caution.
4. CONTROL
We cannot and should not deny the darkness within. Yet we should not allow it to control us. If our beast or shadow or darkside is given too much sway, it clouds our judgement, making us a danger even to those we love. Never indulge in pointless violence. Never bring willful harm to those who sustain you. Never feed only for the sake of feeding, and never give over to mindless bloodlust.
We are not monsters: we are capable of rational thought and self-control. Celebrate the darkness and let it empower you, but never let it enslave your will.
5. LIFESTYLE
Live your life as an example to others in the community. We are privileged to be what we are, but power should be accompanied by responsibility and dignity. Explore and make use of your vampire nature, but keep it in balance with material demands. Remember: we may be vampires, but we are still a part of this world. We must live lives like everyone else here: holding jobs, keeping homes, and getting along with our neighbors.
Being what we are is not an excuse to not participate in this reality. Rather, it is an obligation to make it a better place for us to be.
6. FAMILY
We are, all of us, a family, and like all families, various members will not always get along. However, respect the greater community when having your disputes. Do not let your individual problems bring emotional strife to the family as a whole. Settle your differences quietly among one another, only seeking out an elder's aid in mediation when no other solution seems possible. Never bring your private disputes into public places and never draw other family members into the issue by forcing them to take sides.
Like any normal family, we should always make an effort to present a stable and unified face to the rest of the world even when things are not perfect between us.
7. HAVENS
Our havens are safeplaces where everyone in the community can come to socialize. There are also often public places where we are likely to encounter people who don't understand our ways. We should respect the patrons of these places as we should also respect the owners of the establishments and always be discrete in our behavior. We should never bring private disputes into a haven. We should never initiate violence in a haven. And we should never do or bring anything illegal into a haven, as this reflects badly upon the community as a whole.
The haven is the hub of the whole community, and we should respect it as such, supporting it without business and working to improve its name in the community so that we can always call it home.
8. TERRITORY
The community is extensive and diverse. Every city has a different way of doing things, and a different hierarchy of rule. When entering a new city, you should familiarize yourself with the local community. Seek out the local havens. Learn what households have sway here. Get in touch with key members of the community, learn who is who, and show proper respect where it is due. You should not expect to impose your old way of doing things on this new community. Rather you should adapt to their rules and be glad of their acceptance.
Always be on your best behavior when coming to a new city either to visit or to stay. We are all cautious and territorial by nature, and only by making the most positive impression possible will you be accepted and respected in a new community.
9. RESPONSIBILITY
This lifestyle is not for everyone. Take care in who you choose to bring into it. Those who are mentally or emotionally unstable have no place among us. They are dangerous and unreliable and may betray us in the future. Make certain that those you choose to bring in are mature enough for this burden. Teach them control and discretion, and make certain that they respect our ways.
You will be responsible for their actions, and their behavior in the community will be reflected back to you.
10. ELDERS
There are certain members of our community who have established themselves as just and responsible leaders. These are the people who helped establish local communities, who organize havens, and who work to coordinate the networking of our culture. While their word does not have to be law, they should nevertheless be respected. They have greater experience than many others, and usually greater wisdom. Seek these elders out to settle your disputes, to give you guidance and instruction, and to help you establish yourself in the local community.
Appreciate the elders for all they have given you: if it was not for their dedication, the community would not exist as it does now.
11. DONORS
Without those who offer themselves body and soul to us, we would be nothing. We cannot be other than what we are, but it is the donors who sustain our nature. For this service, they should be respected. Never mistreat your donors, physically or emotionally. They are not to be manipulated or leeched off of for more than what they freely offer. Never take them for granted. Appreciate them for the companionship and acceptance which they offer us, which so many others would refuse. This above all: appreciate the gift of their life. That communion is sacred. Never fail to treat it as such.
12. LEADERSHIP
When you choose to take a position of authority in the community, remember that you do not lead for yourself alone. Leadership is a responsibility, not a privilege. A good leader must set an example for everyone through his actions and behavior. His motives should be selfless and pure, and he should put the interests of the whole community before his own.
The best leaders are those who serve to better the community and whose person and behavior gives no one -- even those outside of the community -- a reason to criticize them. They must strive to be above reproach.
13. IDEALS
Being a vampire is not just about feeding upon life. That is what we do, but not necessarily what we are. It is our place to represent darkness in a world blinded by light. We are about being different and accepting that difference as something that empowers us and makes us unique. We are about accepting the dark within ourselves and embracing that darkness to make us whole beings. We are about celebrating the thresholds: body and spirit, pleasure and pain, death and life.
Our lives should be lived as a message to the world about the beauty of accepting the whole self, of living without guilt and without shame, and celebrating the unique and beautiful essence of every single soul.

Coming Out of the Coffin: Vampires Among Us Many Self-Described Vampires Keep Lifestyle Secret, Fear Ostracism from Co-Workers, Family By DENISE MARTINEZ-RAMUNDO and JOAN MARTELLI - ABC News 20/20 November 27, 2009
They roam our streets and tend to the sick. People who describe themselves as real-life vampires have found ways to live quietly among us.
"I'm not going to worry and waste sleep at night over who might think I'm a little kooky, because I think I'm a vampire," said Kiera, a registered nurse who works in a hospital in Atlanta. She did not want to be identified by her real name.
Throughout the country and all over the world, a hidden subculture of people believe they are real vampires. They claim to have an "energy leak," which makes them feel sick and lethargic. To offset this energy imbalance, they say they need to feed on other people's energy or blood.
"I try to be very ethical about what I do. I feed predominantly from crowds, so as not to cause harm," said Kiera, a founding member of the Atlanta Vampire Alliance.
Watch the full story on "20/20" Friday at 10 p.m. ET
Kiera considers herself a "psychic" vampire. Other vampires known as "sanguinarians" or "blood-drinkers" claim to feed on the blood of consenting donors. Kiera said she has tried this before.
"I have bitten people and had a very small taste of it, but I don't seek out blood donors to collect blood from and ... drink," she said.
Doctors caution that ingesting or donating blood without the proper medical equipment is very dangerous, as it puts participants at risk for infectious diseases like HIV and hepatitis.
In fiction from the classic novel, "Dracula" to the HBO hit series "True Blood," vampires are portrayed as immortal predators with supernatural powers. When they feed on human blood, they kill.
Today's self-described vampires do not claim to be immortal or have superpowers. And they say they don't prey on strangers. They have willing donors, who often are friends or lovers.
Misfits May Embrace Vampire Subculture
"Some people are misfits. Some people are just creative people who don't feel they fit into normal society," said Katherine Ramsland, professor of Forensic Psychology at DeSales University and author of "The Science of Vampires," who spent two years undercover investigating the vampire subculture. "Some people find the vampire a very empowering figure, and they want to identify with that."
People who identify as vampires often meet at underground clubs, but "they're all over the place," said Ramsland.
"I met people who were in professions, like attorneys, stockbrokers, jewelers, fashion models," she added.
Being a vampire for Kiera is not a choice; she believes it's passed down genetically. Yet for others in the community, it's a lifestyle, which almost always must be kept secret.
"I'm a detective, a police detective. I work in robbery/homicide," said Stephen, who asked "20/20" not to reveal his identity to protect his job.
"I'm a lifestyle vampire. I like the look. I like the archetype of what the vampire is, the power, the sexuality, of what that represents," he said.
'Coming Out of the Coffin'
Stephen, who claims to have psychic abilities, agreed to an interview to shed light on what he calls the real vampire community; but he says he is not ready to "come out of the coffin," as some vampires call it. "I would probably be ostracized for this, and that's what I think is terrible. If I'm a good person, if I am a good officer of the law ...j udge me for that."
Many say being honest about their "vampiric" nature can be a tricky balancing act.
"My family and I have a 'don't ask don't tell' policy. They don't really want to know, and I'm OK with that," said a freelance writer and mother of two who calls herself Sylvere. She lives on a quiet street in Kansas City and says she doesn't really discuss her vampirism with her 8-year-old son, at least, not yet. "I probably won't sit him down and say, 'OK honey, look, I'm a vampire. You need to know.' It will be more if he asks, I will answer."
'20/20' Observes 'Psychic' Energy Feeding
Like Kiera, Sylvere, who likes to feed on creative energy, agreed to demonstrate her typical feeding.
As her husband started painting, she began the feeding process in front of "20/20's" cameras.
"I wait until he's so focused on his art that touching him is not much of a disturbance," she said.
Sylvere put her hand on her husband's chest and bit him on the neck -- not hard enough to draw blood because she said she only needs the energy.
"The more physical contact I can have with him, the easier it is to draw his energy. It's not sexual necessarily," she said, "but it will often lead to something of a sexual nature just because we do have such an intimate bond between us."
Some self-described vampires have formed councils and associations through which they network with one another. They say they are convinced they are different from the normal humans they call "mundanes" and hope one day medical science will find out why.

Spells to Become a Vampire By J.L.N. Lewitin A vampire is a mortal creature that has for some reason rejected its soul, expelling it from and giving control of its actions to the sensual body, the source of the reaction, the remnants of the soul, or a conglomerate of all three. While the most common way to become a vampire is to be initiated by another vampire, or to become a source via demon possession or disease, there are also some magical methods which can be used.

To read a short background on magic that will help you to understand the following information click here
NATURAL MAGIC VAMPIRES
Natural magic uses the actual reality of the world to create similar effects in dissimilar places. Using these principals to become a vampire requires a shamanistic approach. In this method ritual and concentration are combined to try and commune with the universe in such a way that you gain an understanding of how to affect the change you want. In the case of a vampire you are trying to eject the soul from the body, while finding a new and viable source of energy. This is a difficult thing to accomplish, and can take many months or years to accomplish.
The rejection of ones soul from ones body by choice is theoretically impossible, so this method generally has to be preformed on others. The rituals used are very similar to those used to create a zombie, and often result in a creature with similar intelligence and lack of self will.
The specific actions and thoughts necessary to perform this act are going to be very specific to your culture and particular mind set. As such the best way to learn this procedure is to do it, spending hours in concentration, and using rituals which are meaningful to you to gain a better understanding of the truths of the universe around you. Some methods you may want to try are rhythmic dancing, transcendental meditation, the use of spiritual journeys or fasts, and most important a dedication to being more aware of the nature of your own soul, in order to gain a better understanding of your relation to the spiritual world. The use of a teacher or shaman will greatly speed this process up, as they will be able to evaluate you from their own more enlightened position, and determine the methods that would work best for you individually.
One thing to note is that when creating a vampire, it is not always necessary to infuse them with a need for blood. This illegal and dangerous habit is also very difficult to develop, as the synthesis of blood and or souls into life energy is very complex. It is often easier to create a vampire which is fueled by chemical or physical energy.
MULTI-VERSE SPELLS FOR BECOMING A VAMPIRE
In the multi-verse theory of magic, existence is composed of an infinite number of universes, within which every possibility exists. The hallmark of this method is the use of perceptual changes in yourself, to try and enter a universe in which your desired effect is true. The more unlikely an event, the more obscure the universe it exists in, and the harder it is to get there.
Becoming a vampire with this method will require the use of deep meditation and or chanting. This process is necessary to change your own perceptions enough such that you actually begin to shift your physical being towards a universe in which you are a vampire.
In using this method it is important to keep your mind open and to be ready to believe in the possibility of anything. This has to be balanced with your ability to perceive the reality of the dimension you are in at any given time. Just believing you are a vampire is not enough, you actually have to change the way your eyes see things, and the way and your mind understands them.
As usual the methods which will work best are going to have to be individually tailored to your mind and situation. A teacher will help this greatly, because they will be able to evaluate you and make suggestions from a trained position relative to you. However, as you become more proficient at this method it may become difficult to remain in a dimension in which you know the teacher, and as such you may require several teachers over the course of your training.
As far as the drinking of blood, there are many dimensions in which you are a vampire that doesn't require blood and has found a much easier method of taking in energy. As such you should try and steer yourself towards these specific dimensions. This is for your own safety and ease, as murder is not acceptable in almost any society.
USE OF MAGICAL CREATURES OR ITEMS TO BECOME A VAMPIRE
Sometimes force, or balance magic has been used to create an item which is very dense in energy and vampire consciousness. Vampire consciousness simply refers to thoughts or ideas about vampires, or thoughts of vampires. When this combination exists in an item, it may be used by a willing creature to invoke vampirism in their own bodies. There may be a word of power which is uniquely tied into the item and activates it, however generally they are used by concentrating on your desire. Occasionally these items are even powerful enough to be used to turn others into vampires, although this generally requires the use of someone with an extremely powerful or trained will.
There is also a theoretical possibility that a demon or spirit can give part of their power to a creature to allow them to change themselves into a vampire. This is different from regular demon induced vampirism in that the demon does not in whole become a part of the creature, but instead only a little bit of the demons power is used to initiate the reaction. This speculation has arisen because many demons have offered this power to humans and other creatures, in exchange for the use of the expelled soul. However in every reported case the demon has betrayed the person as soon as they agreed, taking not only their soul but their bodies and minds as well.
