UKM 2008 - Sarv LIVE for the 1st time!

Sarv performed System Of A Downs song "ATWA" live in Herøy Kulturhus, Saturday 02.02.08! This event was surely also picked up by the media, as you can see here. Video is found here.

JAM!

Tonight, one of Sarvs very finest jam sessions went down! As we are starting to practice for the UKM competition in February, we have arranged ourselves with a practice location at Bø Skule! Several members of Sarv contributed, and this looks very promising! Songs like "ATWA" (System Of A Down) and "Heavy Metal Se Min Kjole", went down smoothly. Also, there was a short glimpse of Likfis jamming, but the quality of this is up for discussion. Sadly, there were not made any recordings at the jam, but maybe next time? We also forgot a camera, so you'll just have to imagine it... Also, check out the "Band Members" section for several updates regarding pictures, titles, instruments, aliases and favourite bands.

14th SARV MEMBER!

Today we got another band member...again. 1st Triangelist Fredrik Sande is finally amongst us.

10th SARV MEMBER!

On Saturday Sept. 8., Sarv accepted a new member into the crowd! Being the second female Sarv member in history, we hope she will bring the band to new hights and add another dimension to the bands already large specter of talents. She plays a tuba.

...Or....we were all drunk and got a new band member..AGAIN! :D

Sindre to attend in the UKM jury!

On Saturday Feb 3., the Sarv vocalist will be in the jury at the local UKM (Ungdommens Kulturmønstring) contest. It is a music, movie, dance and art competition for the local youth. The reason for him sitting in the jury is uknown, but most likely it's a terrible error in the system. Sindre doesn't complain, stating the fact that he don't have to pay the ticket.

Sarv members dress up as Santa Claus!

During the latest "seinfredag" in Fosnavåg, Sarv-members Ørjan and Eirik dressed up as santas and walked around giving fruit to kids. Lets all send a big "LOL!" to them for christmas.

New band member!

During the trip (and under the influence) described below, Eirik "Doris" Monsen was chosen to become a band member. He is now Sarv's brand new reserve/backup/2nd-percussionist/drummer and we are now oficially an "octet". This is a great honour, and we hope he lives up to his commitments.

"Sarv on tour!"

        On November 15-16 and 17, Sarv was on a trip to Oslo to see The Unholy Alliance Tour with Slayer, In Flames, Children Of Bodom, Lamb Of God and Thine Eyes Bleed. With 4 out of 5 bands being Sarv favourites, it was a night to remember for sure. We also probably got banned for life at "Cochs Pensjonat", because of some Doris and Frank related semi-nudism and vomiting. There is a new movie in "Downloads" to show you some of the "feeling" that comes with a Sarv-trip. On the concert, Frank managed to get a hold on two In Flames picks, Mats got one pick (white with golden zebra stripes... unknown artist) and Ivan and Doris had to let a Dave Lombardo(Slayer) drumstick disappear in the masses after a 5 minute struggle.       On November 23, Iron Maiden and Trivium played in Vestlandshallen, Bergen. Representatives of Sarv was of course present (Sindre and KAB), and we can report it was a brilliant event. Metal greetings goes out to Eirik, Erlend and Ingar for giving us a floor to sleep on in the cold, wet Bergen night. Sindre was also so lucky to get his hand on a Dave Murray(Iron Maiden) pick and a piece of tape from the stage floor. Both can be seen here.

The second annual celebration of "Sindre's Hair Day"

It is today two whole years since Sindre cut his hair, and he is now the last one in Sarv with long hair. Ivan, Vegard and even KAB has turned their backs against the long-haired vocalist. In the spirit of Sindre's Hair Day i want to bring out the message to all of Sarv's fans to start grow some hair to support their hero!

Frank and Vegard has moved to Molde!

Two of Sarvs guitarists have moved to Molde to study at Romsdal Vidaregåande Skule. But the band will live on...trough the net and in the weekends.

New song in "Downloads" section!

Sarv has now recorded their version of the Vaselines song "Molly's Lips" live from Torghatten. It also has drums and bass from the computer. Not because the drums and bass are difficult to play, but it was a heat of the moment idea. It contains Vegard on electric guitar and Sindre on the acoustic guitar and vocals. It's really a kinda lame song actually. Even lamer when we play it. Most of you might have heard the Nirvana version of the song before. And as we say in Norway: "Håper det smaker!"

Sarv has now recorded their version of the Satyricon classic "Fuel For Hatred". This one is also from "Torghatten Studios" and has drums and bass from the computer. Enjoy!

Four new Sarv songs in "Downloads" section!

The first song is "True Norse Horse (Live From Torghatten 27.05.06)". This is Sindre and Vegard making up a black metal song in less than one minute and recording it right after...3 minutes in total to make up a black metal song. The lyrics are totally made up while "singing". It is recorded to show how easily black metal can be made. The fact that it is better than much black metal is quite...frightening? It is blastbeat drums from GuitarPro 4 and Vegard on guitar, no bass at all, and Sindre on vocals/"fresing". Very evil and very true norse black metal (LOL). The second song is the very first complete recording of the Sarv demo "Hest". And it is also the first Sarv STUDIO recording EVER! It is vegard playing the lead and the rhythm guitar on two sparate tracks, with the computer (GuitarPro 4) on drums and bass. The drums and bass is recorded trough the speakers to give a more "real-like" and authentic sound than with using just the midi in the mixing. The tracks are then mixed down, equalized and noise redused with Cool Edit Pro 2.0 and Sony Soundforge 8.0. The two other songs are "Ej Bor På Bø" and "Payaso (Power)". Both live from a jam session at Torghatten 27.07.05 - 28.07.05. Enjoy!

New sound clip in "Downloads" section!

This very rare and hard to get clip is a real gem recorded at Karaoke Night at Carl Johan Pub in Tromsø on March 22nd, 2006. It is a recording that was made when Sindre was performing the GN'R classic "Knockin' On Heavens Door" (originally written by Bob Dylan) in a duet with legendary Erlend "Keiser'n" Keiserås from bands such as Nakkjane and Vaskeklutane. The duet went very well and was well received in the audience, as they were singing along and waving lighters. You can download the sound clip here.

Frank won big contest at 17th of May celebration!

Frank won a contest in which he was the best person to beat 3 nails into a log. His time was 17,8 seconds. He won a hammer. Frank , Mats and Sindre also contributed to the team that won the "egg on spoon-run". (w00t!!!!)

Vegard broke a string! AGAIN!

Vegard has now accomplished to brake the BIG FAT E-string on Sindre's Jackson, aswell as the D-string on his own! Depression and darkness swallows the basement as we realize there's probably more to come... These are desperate times my dear friends, and we need all your trust and support for the weeks to come.

Megadeth Guitarist states: "sarv rocks!!!"

During a net chat on the Megadeth fanclub forums on May 8, Megadeths lead guitarist Glen Drover states that "sarv rocks!!!". He is not the first from the band to state this, his brother and Megadeth-drummer Shawn Drover has earlier stated the same --> SD.jpg

Vegard broke a string!

Yesterday Sarv's lead guitarist Vegard Bøe broke the D-string on his Ibanez GRG-170 DX electric guitar. This is concidered a deep tragedy around here because it very often takes long time to get it replaced. In the meanwhile he will be playing his acoustic guitar or Sindre's Jackson King V. Vegards statement on the matter: "I was just barely touching the the thing when suddenly I heard e funny sound, and then the whole thing was over. I still can't completely understand that it is gone. In these tough times it's important to think ahead, and get back in the saddle as soon as possible". We will be back with updates as soon as possible.
