Wellness Committee Co-founders Amy Buchanan and Bette Winter meet with OCSS Superintendent Dr. Robert Grimesey and Food Service Director Tina Powers on Thursday August 27th 2009 at 9:30am.

Great news everyone…the school district in Orange County, VA now has an official Wellness Committee!!

Amy and I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Grimesey and Ms. Powers to welcome them to the county and to discuss their views on Wellness Policies in our schools.

We were happy to learn that both Dr. Grimesey and Ms. Powers were in support of a working Wellness Policy. We asked Dr. Grimesey if he would support the establishment of a Wellness Committee in Orange County and he said "yes".

He said he would like to see the Wellness Committee be a sub-committee of the Health Advisory Committee. He asked that Amy and I work with Tina on the details.

As we all settle in to the new school year you can expect to see more information from me. I just wanted to share the good news!
