The SituationThe New York Times has a very nice page dedicated to the electoral map. If you look at that page, you will see that CA is "Solid Obama" while Nevada is a "Tossup". Rather than trying to run up the popular vote (for the same number of electoral votes) in CA, we are focusing our efforts to ensure we win Nevada. This is the most effective way we can make a difference in this national election. What we are doingWe are going to have phone bank parties every weekend and sometimes during the week between now and the election. Can you spare a couple hours each week? We are going to travel to Nevada on the following weekends: September 19-21 -- probably to canvass for Voter Identification Can you spare 1 weekend a month? Each California congressional district (CD) is going to adopt a Nevada assembly district and then we will further sub-divide those districts by precincts and have individuals adopt a precinct. This will only work if we have the volunteers to staff this effort. Can we count on you? If you want to help, please contact your local phonebank or travel coordinator (below) or your neighborhood, area or CD team lead. Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N)One of the tools we are adding to our support of Nevada is Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N). Most states are using this as a local tool but soon, when a California resident logs in to N2N she will be given voters from a neighborhood in Nevada. As I understand things, this is how we will be "adopting precincts" in Nevada. Note: we are still waiting for the California to Nevada to be completed so at this time you will only be able to contact your California neighbors. We have a good training video here: http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/votercontactTraining There is also a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page here: http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/votercontactfaq/ We now have a simple "Quick Start" guide available here: http://docs.google.com/Presentation?id=dxgzv9s_2grkp42hm Want to do more? Long-term travel! Is traveling to Reno for the weekend just not enough for you? We've had a few people say they want to do more and we are certainly looking for people who can travel to Reno to volunteer for longer periods of time. Can you do a week? Two weeks? Two months? Let us know when and for how long and we'll get you connected with the right people. Supporter housing is available but we do ask that people who go for longer durations have their own transportation. Phone-bank CoordinatorsThese are our phone-bank coordinators for CD1.
