The knowledge sharing network
It's really hard to find certain data on certain topics sometimes. As students, we've always felt the need to be able to share knowledge appropriately. My idea was to develop a friend-based network where students could share their assignments and projects. I am not talking about professionally written papers. I am only emphasizing on academic assignments and papers written/compiled by students. These are not meant to facilitate in cheating of any sort, rather this product will make sure that the information is used only for a reference and gaining knowledge and will try its best to make the use simple and pure. Problems
My idea I had an idea of a website where we could place academic projects and assignments completed by students from earlier batches so that they could be set up as a benchmark for the students following them. It will be a platform to share all kind of academic knowledge with everyone without any interruption. I named it 'k share - the knowledge sharing network'. My dream is to see it as big as Orkut, MySpace or other social networking websites, but with a single purpose of spreading knowledge by selfless sharing. Since Internet is turning into a big pile of information, and the magic word is 'free', we thought that sharing such useful information should be free. Free, not only in monitary terms, but also free from limitations and boundaries. Uninterrupted and unlimited stream of knowledge flowing in the wild for all to benefit. Issues in focus - Ideas at work Sharing credit I realize that not everyone is willing to share credit. This was the major set back in our k share model. Ideally, this is a student-student networking product, but I think that people should be encouraged to submit their projects and assignments after they've completed their courses. On the other hand students can always jump into the action, and take over the scene. Submitted assignments and projects will always be remembered, watermarked and tagged by the names of the people who submitted them. This would help resolve the issue of credit-sharing. Assignment ratings Submitted assignments and projects would be rated by the administrators (explained below). These ratings could be challenedge by ksharers which will present the assignment with Redundancy of data What if two people worked on the same kind of assignment, or someone resubmits an assignment that already exists on our records? Redundancy could be taken care by administrators (explained below). Human administrators Some voluntary administrators can be handpicked having good academic backgrounds among our network of k sharers. They'll go through all the submissions and decide if the submitted material is appropriate and genuine. Dmoz is already working on this model. Happy administrators Administrators will be rewarded with more functional web spaces than the regular K Sharers. They'll be able to maintain (academic) blogs, put up photos, and other goodies etc. Probably get a subdomain on the website. K Bearers Teachers, lecturers or resource persons would also be welcome to join this network (after assuring their status) with their own set of activities. They'll be called K bearers - the knowledge bearers. All of the K bearers will have the option to administer. They will have more power in rating submitted assignments than normal administrators. Vision - Destination We plan to incorporate more functionality into this website with the passage of time. It will soon be a completely functional platform to share knowledge, not only with submitted files, but also with the ability to share information realtime. It will have discussion forums - as many and as frequent required. K Share will give users (students) the option to share assignments with only friends (of choice) or pubilicly. So this can work not only a platform to share knowledge but also transfer to specific people.
I plan to accomplish all this. InshaAllah. I'll soon upload a proper proposal for the idea. | Random pages .Home
