Oasis Católico Santa Rafaela sponsors an after school program for children in grades K-3, Monday through Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00pm for children of the Pinewood community. Tutors/mentors help children with their homework and also reinforce necessary academic skills.

Tutors have an opportunity to practice the Spanish language, learn about Mexican culture, and learn tutoring methodologies and mentoring skills. Knowledge of the Spanish language is not required.

Tutors may use their service hours at Oasis to cover class, sorority or fraternity-required community service hours, and may request proof of their hours from the Oasis office.

For the program to run smoothly, tutors must be able to commit themselves to two hours a week for the entire semester; the children need consistency and become very fond of their particular tutor.
