My paintings ultimately reflect myself as a painter in various places. Those places include the physical places where i have been to, been inspired by, and have seen. They also mean the places where i have painted and displayed my work. My interest in the physical environment has begun with the experience of dislocation from my home country and thus becoming a "permanent wanderer" ever since then. Every time I move to a new place, I realize how much my perceptions and the way of thinking become influenced by a new environment. The environment is inclusive of the landscape, cityscape, and the encounters and interactions with people. In each encounter, I see myself evolving. My work is like a record of myself that is continuously changing. It is a gesture of growth. An attempt to understand where I am and who I am in the place I am now.

As I am in the process of becoming an art therapist, the personal understanding of my identity as an artist matures. The correlation between my life as a wanderer and my interest in different places is manifested in the gestural abstraction in my work. The subtlety, yet, loaded imageries with the layers of paints in my paintings are a reflection of the way I exist in the place. It is the strength that is subtle but powerful enough that its existence is prominent. It is the existence that is not dominating but is trying to submerge beneath the surface.
