OUR MISSION The object of NYAP is to promote the study of parliamentary procedure and the educational programs of NAP. Our goal is to encourage the understanding and use of the Rules of Order to enable groups of all types and sizes to meet effectively, making decisions in a fair and consistent process that makes good use of everyone's time.

NYAP SETS CONFERENCE FOR APRIL IN ALBANY
NYAP has scheduled an Educational Conference for Saturday April 17, 2010, at the Holiday Inn, 205 Wolf Road, Albany. The program will be open to all NAP members and the general public. Watch this space for additional information as it becomes available. Meeting Chairman, Carol Schilansky / Educational Chairman, Carol A. Henselder, PRPNYAP OFFICERS 2009-2011 President--Mark M. Schilansky, CPP-T, PRP
Dr. Schilansky is a retired podiatrist who now works full time as a professional parliamentarian. He serves as parliamentarian for many national, state and local organizations around the country. He is a frequent lecturer at national and regional parliamentary meetings and his work has been published in both the National Parliamentarian and the Parliamentary Journal. He served on the editorial panel for Fundamentals of Parliamentary Procedure. He is a current member of the AIP Opinions Committee and the AIP Advisory Council. Dr. Schilansky is a past president of the American Institute of Parliamentarians, a past president of the New York Association of Parliamentarians and currently serves as Speaker of the House for the American Podiatric Medical Association and president elect of the New York State Podiatric Medical Association. He has been a consultant to a number of attorneys litigating parliamentary issues and has been certified as an expert witness in New York State Supreme Court. Vice-President--Leonard J. Briggs, RP

Carol Henselder joined the National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP) in 1998 and attained her Professional Registered Parliamentarian (PRP) in 2001. She is Director of NAP District One (second term), a past president of the New York Association of Parliamentarians, a charter member and current president of the Lee Demeter Registered Parliamentarian Unit, and member of Parliamentarians of Greater New York Unit. Carol is also a member of the American Institute of Parliamentarians (AIP) since 1996, an active member of the Long Island New York Chapter-AIP, and has served as AIP Bylaws and Rules Committee Chairman. She has been published in the AIP Parliamentary Journal. She serves as parliamentarian for local, state and national organizations, and is a frequent Seminar/Workshop presenter. She was awarded Teacher pins at the past three NAP Biennial Conventions and was designated first runner-up for the 2005 District One Parliamentary Teacher of the Year Award. Carol and husband Ed reside in Melville, New York. They have five children and enjoy spending time with their ten grandchildren. Treasurer--Carol Schilansky
Carol Schilansky is a professional nature photographer, and recently "retired" after 17 years of elected service on the Catskill Board of Education. She joined both NAP and AIP in 2008, and looks forward to taking her RP exam in the Fall.
