The school is inviting Primary 6 girls and their parents to the school's open house on Saturday 23rd May 2009. Find out how the school is able to:
- develop the students' talent
- provide for bicultural experience
- help students grow into a person of character
Programme includes:
- School Talks
- Sports Clinics
- Science Workshops
- Performing Arts Display
- Students' Projects Display
- School & Boarding School Tours
- Uniformed Groups Display
The school also need the help of the existing students' parents. As PSG, we are hoping to get many volunteers needed to help guide the visitors as they are touring the school and to share with the visitors about our experiences. No prior knowledge of the school layout or the details of the activities is required. As long as you know the CCA of your child and have the experience of 'managing' your child with her school work, the school expectations and her CCA, you are more than qualified to share your experiences with the visitors.
So, don't wait; help out! Open up your email and send us your name, contact number, your daughter's class and her CCA to yithao@singnet.com.sg. Alternatively, if you need further clarification, you may call Yit Hao at 96189810.
Thanks for all your support!

Yes, it is time again to sweat it
out on 18 April 2009 9am. Due to the good feedback from our first run last month,
Bernard has kindly arranged again with Trainers to lead PSG
for a second run on 18 April. All parents and teachers are invited to
join us for the run and the fun, for the stretch and the sweat (yup,
literally!). Put on your sporting gears and we shall meet at
the Alumni Room at 9am. Also bring along a bath towel for the stretching routine. EXCO meeting will start after the run at
10:30am. |

It
has been a tradition for the NYGH Parent Support Group to organise a
"Breakfast Meeting With Principal" for Secondary 1 parents at the start
of the 2nd school term. The purpose is to give you an opportunity to
meet and interact with Miss Yap Wah Choo, the Principal. Miss Yap will
share with parents an insight into how the girls are coping in a new
school environment, their performance as a cohort in the 1st term and
during sabbatical week, as well as the many initiatives and programmes that the school has planned for the girls under the Integrated Programme.
On behalf of the NYGH PSG, I like to warmly invite you to the breakfast meeting. Details are as follow:
Date Fri, 3rd Apr
2009 Time 07.30am to 10.00am Venue Conference Room, 4th Level, Nanyang Girls' High School
Programme 0730 - Registration & Welcome by PSG
0745 - Briefing by Principal, Miss Yap Wah Choo 0830 - Q&A Session 0900 - Breakfast and Networking with Parents/Management Staff 0930 - Tour of Upgraded School Library
1000 - End of Breakfast Meeting
Many
Sec 1 parents in the past cohorts have found the session to be
extremely useful. It is also one of the many ways that the school and
the PSG undertake to stay connected with parents, and in the process,
enable us to keep pace with our daughters' journey of learning at
Nanyang.
We
hope that you will register for this event by sending an email to nyghpsg@gmail.com before 27 March 09. We look forward to seeing you. |

Sorry to inform that this talk organised by the PSG (scheduled on 28th Feb 2009) has been cancelled. Based on the number of responses received, the speaker is not
willing to proceed with less than 100 participants. We will be returning the
cheques paid by those parents who have signed up. The cheques will be put in
envelopes addressed to their girls and we'll drop the envelopes at the
General Office this Thursday (26th Feb 2009) to be picked up. Attempts will be made to inform all affected
parents and girls so that they would know about this arrangement. It was heartening to found out that there were 10 NYGH girls (sec 3 & 4) who had signed up
without their parents' attendance even though the topic was a little too advanced
for them. They expressed disappointment when they were informed of the cancellation. No worries, the next talks are in the works!

This very interesting article appeared on The Straits Times on 7th Feb 2009. "Behind every successful child is a super-involved parent." That's the finding after 3 decades of research. If you are unable to read the article from the link, download the attachment for the archived version. |

The PSG will be performing a song item for the coming Tuan Bai Celebration on 7th Feb 2009. It will be a medley of popular Chinese New Year songs. PSG members who are attending this event are encouraged to be familar (and I mean very familar) with the music video below so as to be effective in spreading the festive mood to the students and teachers. Most of all, have an enjoyable time singing to it in the shower! 29th Jan Update: Due to possible duplicate of song performance by another group, we have replaced the first song. Sorry for the change.
