Q. Do I need to pay an annual subscription fee to be part of the PSG? A. Membership is voluntary in the PSG. We are not a registered society and as such, there are NO joining or annual subscription fees. However, we welcome all well-wishers who may wish to make donations to help us fund our programmes. Any amount would be appreciated. Q. Do I have to respond each time the school needs parents to help? A. We hope all PSG members will respond to the school’s needs, as most activities ultimately benefit your daughters. However, your participation is flexible, and you can help as and when you are able to. As a practice, PSG committee members will call you first to check on your availability. Q. As a PSG member, will I be approached frequently to make donations? A. As much as possible, PSG will raise its own funds for its day-to-day operations and activities. There are occasions when the school would embark on fund-raising projects to raise money to build new or improve existing facilities. For example, in 2004, PSG helped raise funds to build the Student Activity Centre which is used by the students for after-school rest and recreation. When that happens, PSG will work with the school to appeal to ALL parents, whether they are PSG members or not, to do their bit. Q. What fund-raising activities will PSG be doing in 2008? A. In 2009, we are exploring the possibility of holding some simple fund-raising projects, such as the sale of cookies during festive seasons to our parents. These projects are still in discussion and all PSG members will be kept informed on its progress. | (Click here to download PSG FAQ leaflet.) Q. What benefits are there for PSG members? A. PSG members will be invited to events, free-of-charge, or where only a nominal fee is levied. If you are a non-PSG member, you have to pay the full fee. PSG members will be invited for special school functions such as “Meet The Principal” tea sessions and Founder’s Day, where they can learn more about developments and programmes concerning your daughters. As a PSG member, you receive frequent updates on matters on the school either via sms, email or post. Q. How can I join the PSG? A. Simply submit the Parent Contact Form to us and we will plug you into the communications loop. If you choose to be an active member, we will contact you. Q. Can I serve on the PSG Committee? A. Yes, we welcome all parents who want to be actively involved. Each year, PSG members of graduating Secondary 4 students either retire or join the PSG Alumni. We need new volunteers, particularly Sec 1 parents to sign up with us. If you are interested, please contact our Committee Members. Q. Will I be expected to commit my time regularly if I sign up with any of the Sub-Committees? A. There are many areas for you to serve, such as the Library, Foster-Parents, Special Function, Parent Enhancement and Ad Hoc Sub-Committees. Some sub-committees, such as the library, may rotate you to take on duties on a regular basis. Others may require your help only for specific activities. You can speak to any of our PSG committee members and they will advise you accordingly. |
