Special Functions Committee
Parents lend a strong presence to many occasions at NYGH. These include annual activities such as the Dumpling Making Demonstration for Secondary One students, Health Week, Breakfast Meeting With Principal and Teachers' Day Celebration. In 2005, the PSG partnered NYGH in an attempt to make the world's longest popiah. More than 1000 students, teachers and parents took part in it.
The Special Functions sub-committee requires many volunteers who can help in these various activities. Our team will contact you as and when help is required. These events are excellent opportunities for you to interact with parents, management and staff. You will also be able to participate in many activities with your daughter. If you can wish to be a part of this committee, please contact:
Library Committee
Meet your friendly PSG volunteers at the NYGH Library! The library, which is spread over 3 levels of the school, contains a wealth of reading, research, audio and video materials. Apart from the full-time librarians employed by the school, more than 20 PSG volunteers turn up each week to help to catalogue and wrap books, return books to the shelves and help students navigate their way through the vast selection of titles.
If you can spare some time, we encourage you to be a part of the PSG library team. NO EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED. We will bring you on a familiarization tour of the library facilities and provide the necessary training. For more information, please contact: Foster Parent Sub-CommitteeMake a difference by being a 'Foster Parent'! Each year, the NYGH Boarding School receives many bright scholars from countries such as China and Vietnam. To help them integrate into our local environment, we match them with a foster parent from the NYGH PSG.
The foster parent scheme is NOT a full-time responsibility. The scholars stay at the Boarding School full time, and are busy with school work and activities. The PSG's role is to work with the school to match you to a foster daughter and provide broad guidelines to get you started. Volunteers are then encouraged to work with their foster daughters on a level of interaction that they are comfortable with.

Ad Hoc Sub-Committee
Give your time, as when you can. The Ad Hoc sub-committee renders assistance to the school periodically. For example, PSG volunteers could be asked to accompany exchange students from countries such as Australia, New Zealand, UK and India to educational facilities or places of interest in Singapore.
Other activities include the Farewell Dinner for our ex-Principal (Mdm Mak Lai Ying) and Appreciation Dinner for our PSG helpers in 2006. If you would like to be a part of this team, please contact:
Parent Enrichment Sub-Commitee The PSG enrichment activities provide learning opportunities for parents, and a network of valuable contact for work and social purposes.
Examples are:
The cooking classes were held at NYGH's fully equipped kitchens for parents and their daughters. These sessions provide excellent opportunities for parents to bond with their daughters.
