From our Principal, Ms Yap Wah Choo
(at the 10th Anniversary Dinner of NYGH PSG on 1 Nov 2008
“The NYGH PSG members have been truly great friends to the school, and you have made a difference to life at Nanyang.  I share many memorable moments
  • making "bak chang" (glutinous rice dumplings) with parents, grandparents and girls...
  • enjoying the creative items that PSG put up in appreciation of the teachers on Teachers' Day
  • the PSG members never fail to surprise us with their creative talents (from great fashion shows while "saving the environment" to artistic somersaults and great food.
What is most heartening is that our PSG is a passionate group of people who serve and work with the school because they believe in it.

And they serve cheerfully (never a complaint even when there are challenges).  You are good role models for our girls and great ambassadors of NYGH.

From our Alumni, Mr Lum Choong Eu
(daughter Denyse Lum, graduated in 2006)
“It was a Saturday morning in January 2003 and I was sitting in the auditorium in Nanyang Girls’ High School attending the parents' segment of the Secondary 1 Orientation.

When Mdm Mak, the previous principal said, "
Even if a girl scores perfect marks, it means nothing if her character is flawed!". I was really impressed by the school's emphasis on character building.

At that very moment, I decided to join the parent support group to give back to the school what the school will be doing for my daughter.

And from that moment, it was nothing but lots of joy & fun! My daughter had 4 great years in the school. I made so many good friends among teachers & parents, I had 2 great foster
daughters, both of which brought tremendous joy to me and my family, and the amount of satisfaction I derived from taking part in all the parent support activities over the years cannot be described!

Six years down the road, I am still serving and continuing to have lots of fun in the parent support group!”

From NYGH parents:

Mdm Gan Hua Siew
(daughter Chuang Xue Ying Sec 101, 2008)
“PSG members welcome me with open arms into this big NANYANG family. Participating in various activities organised by the school such as the Dumpling Festival, Project Runway and the Fruit Hunt, enables me to be closer to my daughter and her friends. It was indeed an enjoyable experience for me!”

Mr Wong Fot Chyi  and Mdm Lai Hwee Tin
(daughter Elissa Wong, Sec 209, 2008)
“Our daughter was the only student from her primary school to join Nanyang in 2007.  In the beginning, we felt just as lost as she did.  Joining the activities jointly organised by the school and the PSG helps us to connect with experienced parents of older girls, teachers and our daughter’s new friends.  Now, Nanyang feels like family and home to us.”

Mdm Toh Yien
(daughter, Chan Jie Yi, Sec 204, 2008)
“I enjoy working with the Nanyang PSG with its unparalleled cohesion and commitment in playing its supporting role for the school.  We are united with a single purpose: our daughters are in the same school.  All activities run by the PSG help to bond parents with their daughters as well as the teachers.”

From A Student:
Xia Jing Yi, (NYGH scholar, Sec 309, 2008 )
“My foster family in Singapore brings much warmth and happiness to me when I am far away from home. They treat me as one of the family. Within a short year, we have grown close to each other.  My foster sister also studies in NYGH.  We meet up sometimes over lunch in the school canteen.  I really appreciate their kindness. Whenever I think of the all places we visited and things we did together, I don’t feel lonely at all.  Festivals are usually celebrated with me in their home. I have gradually adapted to life in Singapore .. My heart will always be with them...”
