What is Child Nutrition Reauthorization?

Groups Working on CNR

Groups Working to Influence CNR

Child Nutrition Forum (CNF) is co-chaired by the School Nutrition Association (SNA) and FRAC.  It brings together diverse groups every 5 years to influence priorities around Child Nutrition Reauthorization reform, organizing their efforts around a Statement of Principles.  It draws support from the religious community, the food and farming world, civil rights and children’s rights organizations, and major education groups, among others.

“We call on the Administration and Congress to enact a reauthorization bill that:

    • assures and strengthens program access and supports participation by underserved children and communities;
    • enhances nutrition quality and provides adequate meal reimbursements; and
    • modernizes technology and simplifies program administration and operation.”

The School Nutrition Association (SNA) is a national, nonprofit organization representing more than 55,000 food service and other related professionals. The SNA is a key advocate on child nutrition issues. www.schoolnutrition.org

The California Association of Food Banks

This is a helpful overview of CNR 2009 given by FRAC and Feeding America.
