Anne-Marie Bohus
Annamarie was born in Budapest, Hungary. Fleeing the repressive Stalinist regime as a young girl, she and her family made Toronto their home. After graduating from high school there, she attended college studying creative writing and office administration. Annamarie had worked in various occupations including the Visual Education Department of Sick Kids Hospital and in Cardiology as a medical transcriber.
Having spent several years in California, Hawaii and Nevada and travelling the globe, Annamarie settled in Brampton where she spends most of her time with community volunteering and political activism, including campaigning for the implementation of a federal Department of Peace, having Brampton join the Cities for Peace and also blogger for Amnesty International Canada and Canadian Voice of Women for Peace.
Annamarie is the recent recipient of the Dr. Reyes Volunteer Appreciation Award sponsored by Dr. Ruby Dhalla and the Brampton Guardian. Bohus says her involvement in the community has always been a personal choice and her passion for activism comes from an appreciation for her "human family". She believes committing even the smallest acts of kindness will help improve the community. Annamarie Bohus is also a writer and caregiver.
