I'm proud to announce the creation of a riding program within Chapter 107 aimed at riders that would like to work on and improve their basic riding abilities. I've realized we have a growing number of new riders in our chapter and I want to make them feel as welcome as possible while providing the support and encouragement they need to progress. Basically what we are going to do is have shorter, easier rides around the area specifically designed to allow newer riders to join up and ride with us without putting them outside their comfort zone. These rides will be approximately 50 to 75 miles round trip and will probably include a lunch or dinner stop if so desired. The main emphasis of these rides is to help them improve their abilites while teaching them how to ride safely not only individually, but in a group. I had forgotten how it was to be a new rider and to be intimidated by certain more difficult roads in this area. I truly want each and every "new rider" we have, and will get, to feel welcome in 107 and know that we are here to help. I have been working with our 3rd Officer Elvis on coming up with good routes, but if anyone has any suggestions or roads they would like to ride please let me know! So be on the lookout for upcoming rides labeled "EZ Ride." And everyone is of course welcome to join in on these. In order to teach others how to ride in a group - we need a group! lol Thanks to Bubba Prescott, National Officer and member of the Mt. Home AR Chapter for this great idea! |
