Born 1974, Portugal, Lisbon. Paulo began his music studies in 1992 at Academia de Amadores de Música de Lisboa, and then went on to study at the Hot Clube de Portugal and Escola de Jazz do Barreiro with Mário Delgado and Zé Eduardo. In 2003 he moved to London to Study Jazz at Middlesex University with Stuart Hall, Nikki Iles, Rob Townsed and Chris Bachelor. In 2006/07 he enrolled for a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) and since then has been devoloping "Wider Opportunities Guitar Projects" for the Music Services in Hertfordshire.
Between 1993 and 2005 he developed his composition and performing projects with bands Pablibut Sone and Ensemble Raum and composed music for Theatre, Dance and Cinema.
He won the National Competition for Young Artists two times, first in 1996 with Pablibut Sone where he was selected to represent Portugal at the Biennial of Young Artists From Europe and Mediterranean in the Italian City of Torino in 1997, and later with the Ensemble Raum in 1999.
Paulo has performed at the most important music venues in Portugal, from Hot Clube de Portugal to Coliseu Do Porto, Teatro S.Luiz and Centro Cultural de Belém. In 2001 he was invited to perform for the President of the Republic of Portugal, Dr Jorge Sampaio at the opening cerimony of Lugar Comum - Centro de Experimentação Artística da Fabrica da Polvora.
In 2005 Paulo releases is first CD "Seven Deadly Sins" with the Ensemble Raum at the prestigious festival "Jazz in August" at the Gulbenkien Foundation in Lisbon
