Northern Virginia Community College's Regional Geology of the Northern Rockies (GOL 295) explored Montana and Wyoming, including Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and Glacier National Parks.  This two week field trip provided an understanding of these areas, but also detailed areas where more work is needed.

Additional work is needed to both understand the geological past and also to prepare for future events.  For example, why did a series of mountains and valleys abruptly end on Sun Canyon Road, MT?  What feature separated two species of dinosaurs?  Is Jackson Hole, WY at risk of a tsunami?

While this class did not answer every question, it laid the groundwork for further study.
