Running
NU Lakefill Loop (0.93 mi)
- Whether you're a freshman or grad student, you've probably ran around the Lakefill more times than you can remember. If you've ever wondered exactly how far you've run, now you know.
Bahai Loop (3 mi)
- This is a great short short run to get away from campus and you get the added bonus of seeing one of the most famous landmarks on the North Shore.
Lakeshore Path Loop (6 mi)
- If you head south from the gym along the lakefront, you'll eventually run into a multi-purpose path with both paved and dirt sections. This route takes you to the Calvary Cemetary on the border of Evanston and Chicago, but it can be shortened or lengthed depending on how far you want to go.

Cycling
Tower Road Loop (11 mi)
- Although the shortest route in the bunch, this ride will take you to Tower Rd where you can get in a great workout of hill repeats. If you're intense like Jeff Rixe, you'll also bring your running shoes for a killer bike/run/hill/hurl brick workout.
Sheridan Rd Route (20 mi)
- This mid-distance ride follows Sheridan Rd to the north for 10 miles. If you're training for an Olympic distance race, time this route to gauge improvements in fitness resulting from the hardcore Wednesday spin sessions (among other things).
Epic Metric Century (~62 mi)
- A Northwestern Triathlon classic, this route takes you from Evanston to Gurnee over rolling hills and mostly smooth roads. There's a secret addition to this route that takes you a wonderful house stocked with steaks, but you'll have to figure it out on your own.
