Where: Northwestern University Lakefill, Evanston, IL

Why: To send the NU Triathlon Team to compete at the Collegiate National Championships in Lubbock, Texas!

$15 if you sign up in advance and $20 on race day.

Course: The course is a scenic 5k run along the shores of Lake Michigan and through the Northwestern University Campus.

The actual route can be viewed at: http://www.mapmyrun.com/run/united-states/il/evanston/682123692029647955

How the doughnut run works: During the run you will have the opportunity to eat doughnuts at the aid stations (start line, 1st mile, 2nd mile, and 3rd mile). You must eat the doughnuts at the aid stations(you cannot run with them). For every doughnut you eat you will have time subtracted from your running time. For example if one doughnut was worth 1 minute and you ate 5 with a finishing time of 20 minutes your doughnut run time would be 15 minutes. The doughnut scale is below.

You don't have to eat any doughnuts if you don't want to!

As extra encouragement to keep them down, a 2 minute penalty will be added for doughnut regurgitation. Prizes will be given to the top three male and female overall finishers with the fastest doughnut adjusted time. Prizes will also be given to the winners of fraternity and sorority divisions so come out make your frat/sorority proud!

Doughnut Reward Scale:

Doughnut StationReward per doughnut
Start Line60 seconds
Mile 145 seconds
Mile 230 seconds
Mile 315 seconds
Bonuses If you reach 10, 15, or 20 doughnuts at any station, you will get a 2 min bonus for each milestone you reach.

EXAMPLES:

You ate 4 doughnuts at the start line and ran the race in 20 min.

We would subtract 4*(60 seconds) = 4 minutes from your 5k time of 20 minutes to get 16 minutes for a final running time.

You ate 5 doughnuts at start line, 2 doughnuts at mile 1, and 3 doughnuts at mile 3, for a total of 10, and ran in 25 minutes.

We would subtract 5*(60 seconds) + 2*(40 seconds) + 3*(15 seconds) + 2 min milestone bonus from your 5k time of 25 minutes to get 15:55.
