As at July 2010, nearly all participants have been interviewed and their stories are in the process of being transcribed and used as part of the history documents. By May 2010, there were three volumes of information - about 600 pages of data. The job for the rest of 2010 is now to compress the information into a more reader friendly format and use this as the basis for a book. The original information will also be stored at the Australian Parachute Federation head office in Brisbane, as well as possibly the archives in Darwin.
The attachments below are the two articles published about Northern Territory Parachuting History in the past 12 months, as part of this project. They are found in the national magazine, Australian Skydivers Magazine.
The photos were taken at the National Parachuting Conference in Sydney, in May 2010. This conference had a history focus to celebrate the 50 years of the Australian Parachute Federation. The first photo is of the author with Jean Burns, the oldest female Australian skydiver. The second photo is with Claude Gillard, who was the president of the Australian Parachute Federation. He is also compiling parachuting history. The last photo shows the three volumes of information on the NT Parachuting History which were taken to the conference in Sydney. |
