Timber Creek

Timber Creek is located on the Victoria Highway, 225 kilometres west of Katherine on the Victoria River.

The Timber Creek Fire and Emergency response Group is responsible for the Timber Creek Police District. The District covers a considerable area, which includes the major communities of Timber Creek, Bulla Community, Kildunk Community, Yarralin Community and Victoria River Downs station together with 30 minor population centres.

The general topography of the district consists of varying areas from sea level to 370 metres in the Pinkerton Ranges containing salt bush desert flats at sea level and densely wooded and pastoral areas for most of the remainder.

The Timber Creek Unit falls under the control of the NTES Northern Region. Currently the Unit has approximately 12 dedicated members trained in a variety of emergency skills.

The Unit carries out the full range of normal Emergency Service tasks. In addition it holds equipment for response to flood and road accident rescue incidents.

The Unit Headquarters is located next to the Police Station.
