Batchelor

Batchelor is located approximately 80 kilometres south of Darwin, 8 kilometres west of the Stuart Highway and adjacent to Litchfield Park.

The Batchelor Fire and Emergency Response Group Headquarters is located at Batchelor Police Station, and the Group is responsible for the Batchelor Police District. The District covers an area which includes Litchfield Park and the Douglas area to the Adelaide River district boundary to the south.

The general topography of the district consists of blacksoil plain with rocky outcrops. Vegetation varies from cleared horticultural and farming land to light to medium wooded areas with occasional rainforest pockets in the Litchfield Park area.

The Batchelor Fire & Emergency Rescue Group falls under the control of the NTES Northern Region. Currently the Group has approximately 10 dedicated members trained in a variety of emergency skills.

The Group carries out the full range of normal Fire & Emergency Service tasks. In addition it holds equipment for response to fire and road accident rescue incidents.
