Cracker night on 1 July (Territory Day) was a busy time for the Alice Springs Rural brigade members. They were stationed at the Alice Springs Fire Station until midnight, responding with their tanker and grassfire unit to nine grassfires. Later in the evening, they backed up the Alice Springs regulars at a structure fire in town.
