Acoustic Reports for DA and CC
DK Acoustics Pty Ltd provides Acoustic Reports for submission to Council to support a Development Application in all areas of Sydney. The reports include a noise assessment, acoustical design for noise control and noise compliance certification.
The reports are prepared by Danny Kastak, a qualified acoustical consulting engineer with a Bachelor and Master of Engineering degree at the University of New South Wales, with over 20 years of experience and is a member of the Institute of Engineers, Australia and Australian Acoustical Society.

AIRCRAFT NOISE
An Aircraft Noise Assessment Report is provided with cost effective noise control recommendations in accordance with the following:
Australian Standard 2021-2015 “Acoustics – Aircraft noise intrusion – Building siting and construction”.
The latest ANEF (Aircraft Noise Exposure Forecast) noise contour maps.

ROAD TRAFFIC AND RAIL NOISE
A Road Traffic and/or Rail Noise and Vibration Assessment Report is provided with recommended building envelope construction details to effectively reduce outside traffic/rail noise to comply with Council requirements and the following Standards and EPA guidelines:
Australian Standard 3671-1989 “Acoustics – Road traffic noise intrusion – Building siting and construction”;
Australian Standard 2107-2016 “Acoustics – Recommended design sound levels and reverberation times for building interiors”;
NSW Road Noise Policy published by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA);
Development Near Rail Corridors and Busy Roads – Interim Guidelines published by the NSW Department of Planning;
State Environment Planning Policy (Infrastructure) 2007.
CHILDCARE CENTRES
An Environmental Noise Assessment Report is provided with cost effective noise control recommendations to comply with the requirements of Council, the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and the guidelines published by the Association of Australian Acoustical Consultants (AAAC).
The following noise sources are normally assessed that may potentially affected the neighbouring residences (these depend on your particular development):
Children playing in the outdoor areas;
Children playing inside;
Air-conditioning outdoor condensing units;
Vehicles entering and leaving the carpark.
CLUBS, HOTELS, BARS and RESTAURANTS
An Environmental Noise Assessment Report is provided with recommendations for noise control and a noise management plan to meet the following requirements:
Council Conditions;
NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) guidelines; and
Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority (ILGA) noise criteria.
The following noise sources are typically assessed that may potentially affected the neighbouring premises (these depend on the particular development):
People talking in the indoor and outdoor areas;
Music playing inside;
Mechanical ventilation and air-conditioning plant;
Vehicles entering and leaving the carpark, if applicable.
ENVIRONMENTAL NOISE IMPACT
An Environmental Noise Assessment Report is provided with recommendations for noise control and a noise management plan to meet the following requirements:
Noise Guide for Local Government published by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA);
NSW Noise Policy for Industry published by the EPA;
Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority (ILGA) requirements;
Council requirements such as Conditions of Consent, LEP and DCP.
The noise assessment is carried out for the following developments:
Gymnasiums;
Clubs, Hotels, Bars and Restaurants;
Childcare Centres;
Boarding Houses;
Commercial and Industrial Premises.
BUILDING CODE OF AUSTRALIA (BCA)
An Acoustical Report is provided with recommendations and construction details for Class 1, 2, 3 and 9(c) developments to comply with the following Building Code of Australia (BCA) requirements, part of the National Construction Code (NCC):
Part F7 "Sound transmission and insulation" of the NCC 2022 for Class 2 and 3 buildings (Apartment buildings)
Part 10 of the ABCB Housing Provisions (previously Part 3.8.6.2) for Class 1 buildings (Duplexes and Townhouses)
For Class 2 and 3 residential buildings, acoustical recommendations will be provided and your architectural drawings will be reviewed to ensure that your development complies with the following BCA requirements:
Floors separating occupancy units and from other areas achieve Rw + Ctr 50 and Ln,w 62;
Common walls achieve Rw + Ctr 50 rating;
Common walls separating a habitable room from a wet area achieve Rw + Ctr rating with a discontinuous construction;
Walls separating occupancy units from common areas achieve Rw 50;
Walls separating occupancy units from plant room and lift shaft achieve Rw 50 rating with a discontinuous construction;
Services separated from habitable rooms achieve Rw + Ctr 40 rating;
Services separated from kitchens or non-habitable areas achieve Rw + Ctr 25 rating.
