Room Parent Coordinator - Lisa Pritt
One or two room parents are solicited for each classroom. An orientation meeting is held at the beginning of the year and room parents are provided with guidelines for assisting the teacher in minor class functions throughout the year.
Art Framing -
Teryl Pomeroy, Beth Buckreis
Volunteers needed to:
- Help frame art work during art framing nights. We’ll show you how!
- Remove artwork from frames as needed at the end of the display period.
Beautification - Celeste Leyhe
Volunteers needed to:- Purchase (PTA will reimburse you) and plant flowers for the pots outside the doors and in front of the school sign.
- Be available to maintain (water and weed) plants on a regular basis (Mrs. Buckreis’ students in room 16 would be available to help with the watering during the school year).
- Work with SCA leaders to organize a spring clean up day.
- Work with the school administration to determine landscaping improvements that are needed.

Box Tops - Sharon Miller

Civic Association Liaison - Ivan Carrasco
Directory - Diane Brennan
Compiles a directory of contact information for students and staff as well as Fairfax County school information. Sells ad space for the directory.
FLEX: Foreign Language Experience Program - VACANT
Be a coordinator and/or an instructor for FLEX, an after-school foreign language enrichment program for elementary school children. Through stories, games, activities, and music, children experience a foreign language and its culture.

GRACE ARTS Coordinator - Lisa Greene Milman
This is a program established by Greater Reston Arts Center to increase children's art experiences in school.
Volunteers needed:
* To present or help other parents present information on artists, techniques, and art history to classes.
* Prepare materials for art projects.
* Assist during presentations by passing out materials and encouraging students as they work on art projects.
You do not have to be an artist to help with GRACE Arts. All materials, information, project ideas, etc. are provided for you and shared at a GRACE arts information meeting. This committee offers opportunities for all types of volunteers, from those who like to up in front of the class to those who prefer to stay behind the scenes.

Coordinates outreach to parents and staff for annual PTA membership renewal and dues collection.
Odyssey of the Mind - VACANT

Reflections - VACANT
The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. The Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme, while increasing community awareness on the importance of the arts in education.
Spirit Sales / FUNdraising - VACANT
Teacher Workday Lunches
Organizes lunches for the teachers and staff of NSES on Teacher/Staff Workdays and during Teacher Appreciation Week.

- Send home flyers to families to request money or food dishes for lunch
- Create flyer to invite teacher/staff to luncheon and post flyer on office and teacher lunchroom doors

Volunteers needed to:- Purchase gift cards and/or items that can be raffled off to staff during the lunch
- Purchase decorations
- Plan a menu and purchase food as necessary
- Create invitation to put in teacher/staff boxes
- Organize set-up, decorations, and clean-up

This year, the school would like the PTA to be responsible for preparing the yearbook. Ms. Allison McGee, a NSES staff member, will work with you to get pictures, plan the layout, meet deadlines etc.
