Sailing the islands of the South Pacific

Find out what it's like to sell all your belongings, leave your corporate careers and set sail towards the most idyllic island chain in the world.  Join us onboard a 44 foot sailboat, as we leave the Caribbean and Northern Hemisphere behind, traveling through the Panama Canal, exploring the Galapagos Islands and spending twenty-two days at sea to reach the Marquesas in French Polynesia.  You'll hear stories about spear-fishing with sharks, black pearl farming in the Tuamotus atolls, jungle treks with natives through the tropical forests of Samoa and Vanuatu.  Also learn about the preparations, maintenance and day to day life aboard a cruising sailboat in remote locales.

Lisa Labonte, along with her partner, got married, bought a boat and left Ottawa in 2001.  She spent seven years as first mate onboard their floating home called 'Nahanni', slowly cruising three quarters of the way around the world, and starting a family while underway! Always an adventurer, her openness for other cultures and different ways of life, along with her perseverance and the help of a brilliant skipper (and best friend) led her to accomplish her dream and now wants to share it with others; in hopes they fulfill their own passions in life.
