Thursday, April 8th at 7:30pm - Using the FONC bulletin in making a decision about going sailing
Camil Laprise – an active NSC sailor and now-retired weather forecaster, is sometime found studying a piece of paper. What you don’t know is that the paper is a FONC bulletin containing the information that weather forecasters use to make their predictions.
With Camil’s persuasion, Environment Canada now has these bulletins available on their website ( if you know where to look). And, with the right knowledge they can be very useful for making decisions on whether the weather is going to be good for sailing.
Where do you get this knowledge? For our presenter Camil Laprise, it took many years of experience to understand how to interpret and adjust the FONC bulletin information to let him forecast his sailing weather. For you, just attend his presentation and find out how to get these FONC bulletins and get Camil’s techniques and tips on how to use it to make decisions on when to go or not go for a sail. |
