 Good News!
NSA Foundation has approved Parramatta Branch’s application for funds to assist the Anglican Retirement Village, Therapy Centre, for the Better Balance Programme for the residents of the Retirement Village.

Australia's Biggest Morning Tea
What a wonderful morning, Parramatta Members gathered again this year at the Hale's residence for the Biggest Morning Tea and what a sucess!  Like last year, there was brilliant sunshine and delicious cakes, but the best part of all was that an extraordinary amount was raised for the Cancer Council.  I am privileged to report that a sum of $1,120 was raised. Thank you to everyone who attended, to those who donated prizes, cakes and helped out on the day.

Read more about it in the July/August newsletter.

Anglican Retirement Village - Castle Hill
Parramatta Branch has donated to the Anglican Retirement Village, a number of Bed Slide Sheet Holders.  These will assist staff to easily reposition patients in bed.  These were delivered to the Retirement Village by the Manufacturer late October.

Anglican Retirement Village - Winston Hills
Parramatta Branch successfully applied for a grant from the NSA Foundation to enable the Anglican Retirement Village to purchase leg & arm weights to be used for physiotherapy for the residents of the Retirement Village.

Parramatta Branch also donated from their own funds a new Television Set to enable them to actively engage with their Nintendo Wii equipment.

Australia's Biggest Morning Tea

Parramatta Members gathered at the Hale's residence for a delightful morning tea.  Brilliant sunshine, delicious cakes and refreshments, raffles and prizes, a wonderful morning.  A tremendous result over
$900 was raised for the Cancer Council.  More details will be in the July/August newsletter.  Well done everyone.

Donation to Careflight

Parramatta Branch have donated $200 to CareFlight.  This wonderful organisation, provides rapid response critical care.  Based at Westmead, many of our members had the privilege of seeing first hand, the base and Careflight's quick action when called out.

NSA Foundation

Parramatta Branch’s application to the National Seniors’ Foundation was successful

and it was with much pleasure that Ian McJannett presented an extra wide wheel

chair to Curie Nursing Home, Oatlands.

The wheel chair will prove invaluable for residents and is built to ensure long lasting

performance, reliability and comfort.

Donation of Nintendo Wii to Courtlands Retirement Village

On Friday, 17th July, National Seniors Australia Parramatta in conjunction with Gregory and Carr supplied a Nintendo Wii System to Courtlands Retirement Village for rehabilitation and physiotherapy use.  The Nintendo Wii should prove very beneficial to the residents as no matter what level of fitness or capability they have, there is an activity to suit, it will be interesting to see the results of this new initiative.

NSA Parramatta Branch President, Ian McJannett and Donna Richmond, Community Relations Officer, Gregory and Carr, took great pleasure in presenting a Nintendo Wii Sports and Fitness system to Pat Johnson, activities Co-ordinator at Courtlands Village Northmead.

NSA Parramatta assists Community

NSA Parramatta have purchased one VHS to DVD Recorder for the purpose of loaning it to Retirement Villages to enable them to transfer their movie libraries to DVD format for residents.  Ian McJannett visited Courtlands Village at North Parramatta who advised a real need to be able to do this but lacked the necessary equipment.  We have loaned out the Recorder to Courtlands to enable them to copy their movie video tapes to DVD.

Ian also had pleasure in donating on behalf of NSA Parramatta a Portable CD player and one box of DVD+RW discs for use by the residents.

Courtlands offers low care, high care and dementia care.
