Meeting Update

November 25th, was certainly a fun night - a Nostalgia Night - where everyone joined in the"remember when".  It was so interesting hearing about our members experiences and memories. I was amazed at some of the great stories - many of them hilarious.

After all that talking, tea and coffee was certainly welcome.

If you missed the meeting, I have attached the powerpoint presentation prepared for the Nostalgia night at the bottom of this page.  Because the file was large, I have had to compress and take out the animation and sound, it loses some of the effect as there was Louie the Fly singing his jingle and the last two slides were accompanied by Rock around the Clock, but it gives you an overview of some of the things we remembered.

November meeting was our last for 2009 -  so I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Committee to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Hope to see everyone at our first meeting in 2010,
27th January.

A tour of the Rumsey Rose Garden in Parramatta Park is in the planning for December.  The late Heather and Roy Rumsey were legends of Australian rose gardening.  The garden has roses donated from Rumsey's private collection and consists of old roses, with many beautiful climbing species.  Well worth a look!

book cover of Second Wind by Dick Francis
SECOND WIND .... Author Dick Francis
Dick Francis is best known for his horse-racing mysteries. However, Second Wind is a little different, the main character is a BBC weatherman and the principal setting is a hurricane in the Caribbean. Sounds exciting.
