Chapter meetings are an excellent place to take risks, try new communication behaviors, share feelings, and be open about our speech.  If you stutter, have a friend or family member who stutters, study speech pathology, or provide speech theapy, you are welcome at our meetings.  No reservations required...just show up!

Meetings typically begin with a general round of introductions.   Since saying our names is one of the most difficult things we do, we use this time to challenge ourselves.  We also use this time to talk about challenges we're facing, successes we've had, and insights we've gained.  After the introductions and announcements, the main program begins.

The program is led by a volunteer facilitator who selects an activity or topic for discussion.  Past subjects have included job interviewing, stuttering's affect on personal relationships, therapy overviews, rubber duckies, family involvement, and a host of other interesting topics relating to the challenges we all face as people who stutter.

All participation is voluntary. We encourage each other to move at our own pace and meet individual goals:  stuttering more openly, working on fluency-enhancing techniques, or trying out new speaking behaviors, such as eliminating word avoidance.  But at all times, just being there is enough.

If you stutter, you are not alone at chapter meetings.  We are here to help.
