The search box on top has two options now ('Search this site' and 'Search web'). Thanks to Google Sites team for providing this new feature. Visitors can now make search queries on this site or entire web.
Google added more page layout options with 1/2/3 column and left/right side bar. Though this release has affected the layout of some existing pages, the new layout offers very flexible design options. I’ve corrected overlapping in existing pages Home, Greetings, Photos sub-pages and Tamil. I’ve improved Comments and About pages with new layout for better readability.
I have manually moved the site content from Google Pages to Google Sites. Hence I opted out of automatic migration by Google by selecting Option 2 - Opt out of the move, and take your pages to a new location.
I setup a Redirect URL so that visit to http://nraveen.googlepages.com will redirect to http://sites.google.com/site/nraveen.
Interestingly the sub-pages are also getting redirected. Example: http://nraveen.googlepages.com/photos is redirected to http://sites.google.com/site/nraveen/photos. And if the matching page is not available in the new site, it provides a link to Home page of the new site.
The migration options are very well thought and implemented by Google Labs team and many thanks for that.
Added a comments page that can receive feedback from visitors and publish it on the same page. Embedded Google Form to get the input and Google Spreadsheet to publish it.
The Form embedding works fine in Firefox and Chrome, but in IE6 it adds an unwanted horizontal scroll bar if the width is small (for paragraph text). The Spread sheet insertion gadget in 'Sites" is not accepting published spreadsheet's URL, but accepts the spreadsheet name.
The steps: 1) I bought a domain name (http://raveen.net) from Magnet Hosting , changed CNAME alias as www.raveen.net and destination as ghs.google.com. 2) In the Google sites settings, added a web address as www.raveen.net.
It took few hours for DNS propagation and working successfully. Now this site can be reached using the simple address www.raveen.net.

Though we can insert tables in Google sites, the functionality is very minimal. We can’t merge/ split cells, change border color etc. I overcome this by first creating a table in MS Word then copy and paste into Google site. It works fine as in my home page http://sites.google.com/site/nraveen/home . It has a borderless table.
Found that googlesites works better in Firefox 3. In IE6, the logo is getting displayed only after refreshing the page. Also header background image is not displayed in IE.
