Scouting for Food 2013 will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 To register, please complete the following registration form. What is Scouting for Food (SFF)? SFF is a Council-wide community service project where Scouting units ask the community for food donations and the Scouting units take all the donations to various food pantries in Howard County.
Who can participate in SFF?
All Scouting units, Girl Scouts and community and school volunteers are welcome to participate.
When is SFF held?
SFF will be held on April 20, 2013. Bag distribution will be held on April 13. Units can distribute bags any time the week before collection day.
Where?
SFF takes place all over Howard County.
How?
The SFF District Chair assigns a territory to each unit. They go out on April 13 (or a date designated by the unit) to drop off bags at houses in their assigned territory. Units go back on April 20 to collect donations. That same day, units take the collected donations to their assigned food pantry.
Is this the only way our unit can participate?
No, there are other ways to participate:
Why was the date changed from March to April for SFF?
Many units hold their annual major events in March. Food pantries indicated that they have less food donations during the late spring and summer. An April date supplies them with food during their lowest time. The weather was also a factor.
How does my unit participate?
First you have to designate one point of contact (POC) for your unit. That person needs to register with the District SFF Chairperson. Communications and updates will be sent to that person only. Put the event on your calendar NOW so you have high participation. A territory will be assigned to you and you deliver bags and collect donations in that territory.
Email District SFF Chairperson at scoutingforfoodnpd@verizon.net with questions/comments.
(When writing, please reference your unit type & number (e.g. Pack 300 -- there are a lot of you and only one of me. -- Thanks!) |
