Song maps are plots of songs through time and frequency, constructed by
a cutting edge simulation of the inner ear. Using original
computational techniques, I simulate the inner ear as pressure waves of
dance along a 3-Dimensional graph. Frequency is segregated into a high
resolution matrix that records a Newtonian simulation driving Euler's
method. The result is that you see sound as you see the world around
you. Watch a song and watch it transcribed into a most fundamental
language; formed when ears first began to listen and rooted deep within
our biology. Watch as sounds move to the harmony along a map of space
and time. Song Maps: Featured: Jam - guitar trumpet, andrew mccool, author Movie Whole Notes: Bach's Invention # 1 - trumpet, author plots and listen - more Bach's little fugue, trumpet; author plots and listen - more Sixteenth Notes: Chopin's etude, piano; evan penn plots and listen - more Helplessly Hoping, voice, jeff and maria Listen - Chopin's etude - Evan Penn plots and listen - more Speech Is not love a most ripened commodity? - composed and read by the author plots and listen - more Diagram Of The Inner Ear: This site and the computer simulation that produced these images was created by Jeff Knowles. If you have Matlab, you can try the program. Click here to download the m-files. If you do not, you can send me an email with the subject "earsim" and attach a sound file. I will run the simulation for you and send you back a plot. Copyright all content herein by Jeff Knowles, Blog ~ Downloads ~ Work 2009. |
