Bangalore. Kalyan is a natural story teller. In “Not for $ Anymore”, he has been able to take everyday experiences from his vast travels and present them as succinctly articulated anecdotes. Some of these brought a smile to my lips, while others created food for thought. For many of the anecdotes, I found myself expressing “how true”. All these observations, even the critical ones, are in good taste and reflect a wholesome outlook on life.
Kalyan has travelled extensively and observed the nuances of different cultures as manifested in work and other settings. He brings out the similarities and differences between cultures.
It’s not difficult for travelers to unwittingly run into trouble as every country has its share of those ready to take advantage of the distracted traveler. Kalyan’s travel tales include a few tips on things and the types to watch out for.
In conclusion, Kalyan’s anecdotes seem to me the “Twitter” of the anecdote world. Each has a precise length, fitting exactly in one page and each has its own punch line or message. To supplement the narrative are appropriately chosen cartoons which embellish and enhance the story. |
