Safety First!

Trains and Trolleys have the ultimate right of way!

-Helmets must be worn in any battle/skirmish scenario. This is a rail yard and the risk of injury from being around rail equipment, especially rolling stock and engines is very real. The cars and engines are made of metal, not plastic, rubber, or soft foam! They have sharp edges, corners, and in some cases a fair degree of rust. Therefore, you must wear a helmet for all battle scenarios around trains, trolleys, and material yards.

-NEVER climb on any car, locomotive, or signal tower unless it is clearly posted otherwise.

-Do not put objects on the rails

-Do not throw objects at trains

-No hanging from trains, leaning head or arms out the windows, or loitering on the platform between moving cars.

-DO NOT JUMP OFF A MOVING TRAIN OR TROLLEY. All vehicles must come to a complete stop before you get off!

-NEVER come in contact with the electrified trolley wire, or touch the trolley pole rope.

-ALWAYS cross tracks where there is a walkway. Never step directly on the rail. There may be electrified 3rd rail systems in operation throughout the day.

-NEVER stand on or near any railroad track. When crossing tracks, look in both directions for moving trains.

-ALWAYS stay completely clear of railway equipment. Never crawl under the cars or walk between them. Cars can move without warning at any time.

-NEVER smoke or carry any burning material on any railroad car or in any building.

-Please police the public and re-enactors when necessary to ensure their safety. The Museum Staff, Event Staff, MPs and FGs cannot always be everywhere and watching everyone.

-ALWAYS watch your children and other children. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Event Security

-MPs, FGs, Museum Staff, and members of the 10th Mountain Division will be enforcing all rules and regulations.

-On site security will be assisted by local police.

-In case of emergency, call 911, then seek out the MPs, FGs, Museum Staff, or members of the 10th Mountain Division.

-The museum staff and volunteers have an emergency routine which they practice during the year in case of emergency on the trains, trolleys, buses, or museum grounds.

Load once you disembark.

-While boarding, disembarking, or while on a train or trolley keep your weapons UNSLUNG, in hand, in front of you, below head height.

-Weapons are to be unloaded at all times unless one is:

Authenticity

-It is the responsibility of each individual member to be inspected for authenticity by a designated member of the Event Staff other than their unit commander before taking the field at any event. It is the responsibility of each Commanding Unit Officer to make sure all of his command are inspected.

-All male and female participants will present a proper military or civilian appearance in representing a member of the Allied and Axis Armies of WWII as stationed in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations with the emphasis on the middle and northern Italian peninsula campaign or the US Homefront.

-Uniforms and equipment must be of the model or type in use and proper to the period being portrayed, used by the unit portrayed or an acceptable replica. If a person can prove a unit or individual used a certain weapon, equipment, or uniforms by period letters, period photographs or period film, then use will be permitted. Italian WWII camouflage will be permitted for use by the Germans or Italians if being worn in the proper theater (Sicily or Italy).

-Allied participation for the North Platte Canteen train and scenario will require proper uniform. NO field uniforms allowed. Class A, B or C for travel is required for military personnel. Proper head covering (Garrison cap, or visor cap) is the order of the day. We ask German POW's on the train not to wear jackets or have suitable PW markings on the jackets. We may have limited "PW" tags for this purpose.

-NO AIRSOFT weapons are allowed with the exception of being used for display ONLY. Blank firing weapons or non-functional weapons only on battlefields. Anyone using an airsoft weapon on a battlefield will be required to remove it immediately.

-Vehicles must be of WWII vintage or be converted to WWII vintage and are subject to inspection by event S&A staff. No post war vehicles are permitted. NO tracked vehicles are permitted.

-No current issue medals of valor shall be worn by any individual that did not earn them in actual service of the US military. The only exceptions to this would be a first person impression of an actual historical figure.

Hairstyle & Facial Hair

-A hairstyle correct for the prescribed time period (1940's) of the event will be required of all participants.

-Proper mustache and beards are allowed if the unit being portrayed historically permitted them.

-A 'in-the-field' look is appropriate for units in combat and longer facial hair (2-3 days) is acceptable.

-Scenarios involving invasions, garrison, and home front situations, such as the North Plate Canteen, should have troops in clean shaved appearance.

-Females portraying male combat personnel must outwardly assume the appearance of a male, that is, the hair must be covered (tucked securely under helmet/cap), and no makeup or jewelry.

-No modern earrings or other visible piercings will be allowed. Tattoos must be covered.

-Partisans do not have to follow hair regulations (but lets keep things reasonable).

-Owners and drivers of CLOSED-CAB VEHICLES and A.F.V.’s are exempt from hair regulations. However, such driver and crews CANNOT be considered “tactical” and suffer the same fate as the vehicle. If the vehicle is “destroyed,” then the entire crew is also “dead.” Any crew member that would normally be seen, i.e., Tank Commander, etc. MUST conform to hair and uniform regulations. You must wear full authentic uniform even if in a closed vehicle.

-Remember the periods being portrayed and use period photographic and written sources as your guides. Be prepared to back up your appearance with period sources if called upon to do so.

-Final decision on a participant's appearance lies with the Event Staff and S&A Inspectors.
