NOVEMBER PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:

We just returned from the most fabulous weekend at the

WFRW Board o Director’s meeting in Leavenworth.  Going from NKRW was Roberta Messinger, Barbara Ann Stier, Jan Stump and myself.  We  were privileged to meet the new 2010 NFRW President, Sue Lynch,, who spoke at

our Friday evening banquet and again with a few brief words at the Board Meeting.  She is vivacious, interesting,

knowledgeable and understands our organization from top to bottom.

Our WFRW officers held an excellent program and left us with a lot of challenging ideas for the coming year.   The

keynote speaker for the Saturday luncheon was Senator Val Stevens.  What an excellent speaker!

Come to our November 17th meeting to hear more about this board of directors meeting.  One thing brought before the group was the need for the wounded soldiers at

Ft Lewis.  It was suggested we collect DVD’s and CD’s

to give to them along with a Christmas card addressed to

“A U.S. Soldier”.  Since the start of this current administration it is unlawful to give anything religious, mentioning God, etc to any military personnel.  Their mail is subject to censorship.  Val Stevens suggested we purchase Christmas cards that sing – “Silent Night”, O Little Town of Bethlehem” etc so that they will get to hear it when the card is opened by a soldier.  That will not happen.  If they have any suspicion that it may contain “contraband” the card or packages will be opened and the items run thru a shredder.  (I checked this with the head of the Army in this area).  All the soldier will get is the envelope.  If you are interested in participating in this drive for DVD’s, CD’s and Christmas Cards please bring them to the meeting on the 17th.  My last trip to the Madigan Hospital for this year will be the 20th of November.

We are planning to have an evening meeting to encourage ladies who work or have small children and unable to attend our day meeting on Friday evening, November 13,

at the Poulsbo Fire Station at 7:00 pm.  We will be showing a DVD entitled “33 Minutes”.  This is a film from Heritage

Foundation and shows how it would only take 33 minutes for a missile to reach any U.S. City from North Korea, Iran or any unfriendly country in the Middle East.  If you know of any women that would be interested in coming please invite them to attend.  We will serve coffee and cookies.

(We would appreciate any donations for cookies)

Thanks to our wonderful nominating committee for the excellent job they did in presenting us a slate for 2010 officers.  Thanks Avis, Marion and Jan!  Our new officers

will be:  Faye Henden, President

               Brenda Petrick, 1st Vice President

               Avis Adams, Treasurer

               Barbara Ann Stier, Secretary

Thanks to these ladies for stepping up to the plate and

Accepting the duty of these offices for next year.  It will be an important Election Year and we plan to have a lot of

Candidates to speak at our meetings and forums.

Brenda Petrick

President
