The region contains nearly six hundred colleges and universities. Six of the eight Ivy League campuses are located here, as well as dozens of other prestigious academic institutions. This is a very strategic place for campus ministry!
The 2.2 million students at over 500 colleges and universities include many who will soon influence and lead in business, education, government, and media. The best and brightest International scholars (106,000) flock to these schools. Cities like New York and Boston are magnets to hundreds of thousands of students from every state and nation.
Beyond the teeming, diverse urban centers, the Northeast also holds many state universities and private colleges tucked away in small town places like Amherst, MA, Syracuse, NY, and Burlington VT.
While the Northeast can be perceived as rocky soil for the Gospel, it is in fact a great place to sharpen our skills in presenting Christ. We live in a region where we have great opportunities to be innovative, creative, adaptable, and of course full of faith.
Currently, Campus Crusade ministries exist on one hundred campuses led by 16 “missional” staff teams. We are going after every campus and crossing ethnic and cultural boundaries on campuses throughout the region. Exciting things have happened in Worldwide Student Network partnership locations like East Asia, London, and Africa. |
